Top 10 Moments from Renfield

Can Nicolas Cage play Count Dracula with full conviction?

Yes, of course he can.

Nicolas Cage plays the Count in RENFIELD with full dedication. No matter how ridiculous some scenes can be, he gives it all.

Unfortunately, there isn't enough of him in the movie.

Nevertheless, Renfield is an entertaining movie. Although it isn't a laugh out loud one, it does keep you amused until the last scene.

Here are some of the Top 10 Moments from Renfield

1) Robert Montague Renfield attends support group meetings for people in abusive relationships. He is one, too. It's with Count Dracula, who turned him into a familiar centuries ago. He gets his powers of strength and speed through eating bugs.

2) Renfield is convinced by Count Dracula that he is the only one who understands him and that if he doesn't protect him, Renfield will be tried for Dracula's crimes. Renfield believes it to be true and repeatedly helps Dracula from hunters. The hunters, before they explode, warn Renfield that all of Dracula's victim's blood is on him.
Renfield lives in deep regret as he watches Dracula kill people.

3) Renfield's plan to feed Dracula and help get rid of abusers backfires when he gets involved with a gangster named Teddy Lobo.

4) A police officer, Rebecca, is after the Lobo family because they killed her father, who was the Captain. She is desperate to take Teddy down, but his contacts allow him to escape imprisonment every time. Her sister Kate, who is in the FBI, tells her to keep her cool in order to take down the criminals.

5) Dracula rejects the drugged gangsters Renfield got for him. He calls them trash, and although his appearance is gaunt and he is pretty much decaying, he refuses to feed from them. He forces Renfield to get him something better, like cheerleaders.
Reluctantly, Renfield goes to a restaurant to find "food" for Dracula. He spots nuns and then sees a bus load of cheerleaders. Just as he groans and gets ready to drug some people, Rebecca comes into the restaurant, having been led by the evidence she found at the gangster's lair.
Renfield tries to make a hasty retreat, only for the gangster's goons to arrive.

6) Office Rebecca calls out Teddy's bluff when he points a gun at her. She refuses to bow down to him or back off. Renfield is amazed by her bravery and decides to help her. Even though his little case of bugs has been displaced, he manages to consume a fly that turns his eyes orange and gives him strength enough to rip the men's arms.
Rebecca and Renfield not only take down the gangsters but also form a friendship.

7) Renfield returns to Dracula, who tells him about his plans for world domination. Appalled, Renfield returns to his support group, who encourage him to have his own life. Renfield gets an apartment, ditches his clothes from another era, and gets self-help books. He even visits Rebecca at the police station, and their friendship deepens.
Rebecca gets her sister to run a scan on the evidence she found.

8) The Lobos manage to find Renfield's location and go to Dracula's lair, where he manages to overpower all of them. When he learns from Teddy that Renfield has been a hero, he gets enraged. He seeks out Renfield, and since his mat pretty much says, "Welcome and Come In," Dracula manages to enter the apartment. He threatens Renfield, who uses the book to speak out lines to his abuser. Dracula hits him with the book, realizes it was given to him by the support group in the church, and goes to slaughter them all.

9) Renfield is held accountable for the deaths, but before Rebecca can take him away, the gangsters and police officers come in. Rebecca realizes corruption runs deep in the department and flees with Renfield. He tries to convince her of his innocence and of his identity. Kate confirms that the DNA found belongs to someone who committed murders for decades. Realizing Renfield could not be in his seventies, she begins to trust him when they are attacked. Renfield saves her again. Their bond becomes stronger.
Dracula joins forces with the Lobos while Rebecca learns that her sister Kate has been taken by the gangsters.

10) Rebecca and Renfield join forces and arm themselves. Dracula has prepared, too, and turned more men into familiars. Renfield is beaten up while Rebecca is coaxed into joining Dracula. She tricks him by using the switch for the blinds. Dracula turns himself into bats that knock out Renfield.

Rebecca gets into it with Dracula and shoots him in the foot so that his blood drips on Renfield. Renfield, empowered by the blood, fights off Dracula while Rebecca makes a circle out of drugs. The incantation is said aloud, and Dracula is trapped in the circle. The two beat him up, rip him apart, put him in cement, and then throw the pieces in a sewer.

Before that, his blood is taken to revive Kate and the support group members. One of them is traumatised by what he saw on the other side.

The blood is kept in a pitcher at the support group meeting. Rebecca and Renfield become thick friends and walk towards a new life.
