Plot: After seeing his parents die as a kid, Billy grows up troubled and indulges in violent revenge.

Quick Movie Review

Silent Night, Deadly Night is a surprisingly fun horror movie. While it does play around with various genres and tries to find its identity, there's never a dull moment in this flick. Is it an action movie? Psychological horror? Or a slasher?

It's actually all of the above and still manages to entertain.

SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT Plot

Billy is a young boy who visits his grandfather at an old-age home. He notices the janitor staring at his mom, but thinks nothing of it. As he goes to spend time with his grandfather, the older man suddenly throws up blood.

Cut to Billy with his parents in the car. They announce that the grandfather has died. The mom is more interested in verifying that the grandfather did sign the will before he died.

At the traffic signal, a car behind them hits them, and the father gets out only to get shot in the head.

The mom gets out and is the next victim.

Adult Billy wakes up from a nightmare. He's in a room with a dead body. He uses his advent book to mark a killing.

He manages to creep out from the motel room and get rid of evidence, even leaving 20 dollars for the garbage collector. Some cops show up, and the voice inside Billy's head helps him escape by climbing the roof.

Billy comes to a diner where he sees Pamela and develops a crush on her. The waitress is quick to give him information about her.

Billy tracks Pamela to a store that her father owns. He fumbles and ends up being embarrassed, but then manages to pull out a CV and apply for a stock room position at the store.

But the voices in Billy's head are looking for the next victim.

Plot B is about missing children who are introduced via missing posters.

More killings, more stamps on the advent book.

When Billy steps in as Santa Claus' substitute, Pamela is impressed, while Billy has to fight off the urge to attack kids. Charlie, the voice inside him, directs him to say whatever it takes to keep him level-headed.

Pamela's ex, a cop called Ma,x hovers about and suspects Billy. However,  Billy misses spotting him, and Max goes to check on the CV just lying on the table.

Billy kills again but deals with memory gaps. His latest victim turns out to be the latest hire. But while he was found murdered, it turns out that he had murdered his wife years ago and rolled her body in a carpet.

In a way, Billy had killed a bad person.

Billy then goes after a group of Nazis holding a party as well, but is shot in the leg while killing Delphine, the leader.

But Billy is always prepared and even has a mini vodka bottle to use as disinfectant.

SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT

Plot B comes into prominence. With the Snatcher going around kidnapping kids, when Pamela's father sees a boy in a locked car, he goes to save him, only to be shot by someone in a Santa mask.

Billy checks the cameras later, and it seems the Snatcher is mocking him by waving at the camera.

Pamela is depressed after her father dies, and Billy decides to come clean to her despite Charlie's warnings.

He tells her his whole story about how the guy who killed his parents was Charlie, and how when he died, and Billy came close to him, he felt a jolt of electricit,y and that Charlie became a voice inside of him, directing him to kill people who had done bad things.

Turns ou,t Billy's parents had poisoned the grandfather because they wanted his assets.

Billy explains how Charlie has been directing him to these bad people while also keeping him safe.

He recounts an incident with his foster mother, who was plain evil and killed any kid who accidentally destroyed her figurines.

Billy had killed her when he turned eighteen by pushing her into deer antlers.

Pamela is freaked out but also impressed.

They manage to track the snatcher and find the kids under the floor in a ball pit.

While Pamela helps push the kids out, Billy helps them up. But when the Snatcher drags Pamela away, Billy has to jump in and, using Charlie's eyes, manages to track the Snatcher and kill him.

But the snatcher has attacked Billy, too.

While he's outside, trying to get to the car to save the kids, Max, who had been tracking their car, and suspected Billy, comes over and shoots him.

Pamela runs out, and Billy takes her hand and transfers his powers to her.

Pamela uses Billy's voice and kills Max brutally.

The movie ends with Billy now residing in Pamela's mind.
