FROM Season 3--My Take on the TV show with Spoilers!
Plot: In the third season, Tabitha meets with Victor's father in the real world. Back in town, Boyd finds it challenging to control the frustrated citizens who want to get back home.
FROM is one of those shows that I wait until the entire season is available before I sit down to binge on the series.
I'm not one of those fans who can patiently wait a whole week for the next episode. FROM is one of those shows that always ends each episode on a mind-boggling twist.
True to its tradition, From continues the third season in the same vein as the previous ones. There is horror, drama, and a whole lot of mystery. But perhaps the best part of the show is that each character has been given a story, and each of them portray their characters so well that it is an engaging watch from start to finish. There isn't a single character whose story you aren't invested in.
Let's get right into what happened in Season 3 of FROM
FROM Season 3 Plot
Last season, Tabitha found herself in a hospital in Maine. She should be happy to get out, but she is away from her children.
Realizing she will be seen as a mad, rambling woman, she decides to sneak out of the hospital. She has Victor's lunch box on which he has his home address written, so that is where she heads off.
As soon as she reaches the house, an old man called Henry who at first sends her away. When he notices the lunchbox in his hand, he is astounded because that used to belong to his son Victor.
Back in town, the residents are grappling with Tabitha's disappearance, Fatima's surprising pregnancy, and a shortage of food after all the crops decayed.
Donna is dealing with irate residents, while Boyd is trying to keep the livestock safe as it is their only source of food at the moment.
At night, the creatures emerge and release the livestock. Desperate to keep their only source of food, Boyd steps out, and Tian Chen joins him.
Unfortunately, before they can get to safety and use the talismans, Boyd is caught and made to watch the creatures tear Tian Chen apart.
The next day, Kenny returns, having found some vegetables growing around the lake. He is devastated to learn that his mother has passed away. Kristi is tasked with making Tian Chen look presentable for the funeral. The residents reflect on Tian Chen's generosity towards them.
Fatima is unable to keep any food down and keeps throwing up, which irritates the other residents in the house because they can't use the bathroom.
Ellis is worried about her, but she assures him she is fine until she spits out a tooth.
Kristi, Kenny, Jade, and Dale are out collecting food. While running after Kenny to console him, Kristi steps on a bear trap. Jade and Dale manage to get her out using metal rods from some weird totems they find in the woods.
Ellis and Fatima go see Mari, who they are hesitant to see because of an incident last season when she not only stole drugs but also got trapped in another realm where she was chained to a wall.
Mari looks over Fatima and tells her that she just has very bad morning sickness and that it will get better soon. Until then, she needs to try eating something.
Turns out the only food she is able to consume is the rotten food that was supposed to be thrown away. Tillie catches her feeding on it and tells her that pregnancy cravings can be weird, and soon she will settle.
Tillie even offers to read her future with tarot cards but is disrupted by
crows who insist on smashing themselves against the windows. Tillie later tells Elgin that she feels sorry for Fatima.
Tabitha manages to convince Henry that she is from a town where no one can escape and that his son Victor is alive. She shows him Internet articles of the people's disappearances.
While talking about his wife Miranda, Tabitha realizes that she may have seen the place long before she came to the town. She had also become obsessed with a tree that had hanging bottles on them.
Tabitha tells him that such a tree that could transport her to the lighthouse and then to the real world could also be her way back to her family.
The irony here is that Tabitha has been desperate to escape the town, and now that she has, she can't wait to get back there.
Anyway, Henry offers to drive her to the park where the actual hanging tree is. On the way, Tabitha panics when she finds a bracelet in Henry's car. It's the same bracelet Tabitha keeps making for her husband, Jim. She thinks she is dreaming, and Henry gets distracted enough to drive right into the path of a truck.
When Tabitha comes to, she's inside an ambulance. Henry is strapped to a gurney. Tabitha is told that Henry is barely holding on. Later, he is able to walk out of the ambulance.
Anyway, the driver stops the ambulance when he sees a fallen tree. To her horror, Tabitha realizes she is back in town.
On the other side, Jim keeps getting calls from someone who calls himself Thomas. He used to be Jim and Tabitha's son, who passed away some time ago.
Jim gets frustrated and tears the phone off the wall when Ethan too picks up the phone and is told by Thomas that his mother is alive and that she will be in an ambulance.
Boyd is growing restless over the creatures, having the upper hand, and decides to capture a live creature to study him as opposed to cutting open a dead one previously.
Donna is against the idea, but Boyd is adamant. He approaches Randall and offers to switch accommodations for the night. Intrigued, Randall decides to stay on.
He keeps hallucinating about flying insects and their incessant, high-pitched chirping sound. As night falls, he tells Boyd that things are different because the creatures have never broken routine before.
Tabitha keeps telling the paramedics to turn around and head to the barn for safety, but they ignore her.
The driver finally stops when he sees a woman lying in the middle of the road. Tabitha warns them that it is not human, but thinking that she is frantic, the police officer on board, Acosta, handcuffs Tabitha while the paramedics go and check on her.
They find no pulse, and sure enough, the woman opens her eyes and transforms into a creature before ripping their throats and abdomen. Acosta panics and starts shooting about, but the creatures don't go down.
At the Colony house, Nicky is peeking out the window. Acosta assumes it is another creature and shoots in her direction. Nicky collapses.
Acosta bangs on the door and is let in.
Ethan notices the ambulance and wants to run and see if his mother is in. He is stopped by others, but Jim and Boyd rush over.
Jim is surprised to see Tabitha because he is absolutely sure she has died. Boyd is surprised too but quickly surrounded by the creatures.
Randall hallucinates about the creatures again, and Boyd is put to the test again: he must choose between saving Randall or saving Jim and Tabitha. He chooses the couple.
Randall is surrounded, but then we don't see anything following that, which could only mean...yes, he survived.
Why the creatures do not kill Randall remains a mystery.
In the Colony House, Mari attends to Nicky and pulls out the bullet. But Nicky still succumbs to internal injuries and dies. Acosta is devastated, and Boyd confiscates her gun. Later, Donna and Boyd find that the creature has left Randall on top of the ambulance.
He survives, but half his face has been chewed out and has to be stitched. Randall no longer wants to see Boyd or accept his apology for leaving him behind.
The entire town wants to know how Tabitha survived, and during the town meeting, is asked why she never tried to convince anyone that there were people trapped in the town and needed help. Tabitha doesn't have an answer. They are kind of right. She did have an opportunity to help or at least inform more people about their plight, but instead decides to hide from the police.
They all want to go through the tree, but Boyd discourages them because when he went through it, he ended up in a pit.
Boyd walks off in a huff, annoyed that even Donna didn't have his back.
Donna and Bakta later tell Boyd that they will back him up the next time.
Jade and Tabitha try to figure out what the numbers inside the bottles could mean. While they are at the tree, Dale comes along, makes an obnoxious comment, and goes through the tree.
Everyone is shocked to find Dale being part of the swimming pool walls. Boyd tries to help him, realizes it is pointless, and considers shooting him only for Dale to die because of internal injuries.
This sets a good example for everyone in town as they now realize the perils of going through the tree.
Kristi and Mari call Fatima to them because they have found an ultrasound machine in the ambulance. Everyone is excited to see it, though Fatima is nervous. Her cravings have shifted from eating rotten food to drinking blood from Nicky after she died.
Kristi and Mari are surprised to find no evidence of a baby, although Fatima practically screams out that she can feel something growing inside of her.
Elgin keeps seeing the kimono woman and, after one point, discusses it with Julie. The teenager is already confused and troubled after being chained to the wall in the last season and has taken to getting stoned. The two are goofing about when they find a Polaroid camera.
Elgin soon finds that the camera is taking photos on its own and sending it a message.
Fatima is troubled by her continously cravings that leave her agitated. When Tillie comes to comfort her, she stabs her.
Boyd and Ellis try to hide the truth and keep Fatima in a shed. Eventually, Donna is told, and she gets emotional knowing that the girl she loved as her family is a murderer.
Victor goes to Sara so that she can help him remember his past. He remembers that as a kid, when he saw all the dead bodies in the morning, he had stolen an item each and buried that instead.
While reminiscing, he remembers that a man called Christopher had a ventriloquist doll called Jasper that seemed to know secrets about the town. He thinks the creatures may have hidden it in tunnels.
When Victor is told about Henry's arrival, he isn't very happy and walks away. But the two tearfully reunite when they are on their walk.
Victor wants to find the doll, and Henry decides to accompany him through the scary tunnels. Victor uses the small green army men as markers so that they don't get lost.
Eventually, they come upon a cave where Henry identified Miranda's scarf, while Victor steals the doll. The creatures awaken, and the two head out just in time.
Julie and Randall develop a friendship where he offers to teach her to drive. However, when they approach the ruins, he panics and flees.
Tabitha recalls a dream she had as a child. She realizes this when she is talking to Jade, who tells of his own experience and hallucinations in an area where there are strange totems and red painted rocks.
Tabitha realizes that she had dreamed about this place as a kid.
Elgin goes to Fatima, lured there by a Polaroid photo. He cons her into believing that Ellis calls for her and brings her closer to the town, then locks her in a cellar. Apparently, he needed Fatima closer to the town.
Fatima tries to convince Elgin that she isn't pregnant, but he offers her a jar of his blood, and she gulps it down. Her belly begins to grow at an alarming rate.
When Ellis and Boyd can't find Fatima, they arrange a search party. Ellis is teamed up with Elgin, who makes a cryptic remark about Fatima and the baby being the reason they could get out of there.
Ellis reveals this to Boyd, who tells Donna.
Along with Kenny, they all trap Elgin in a room and demand to know where Fatima is. Boyd even calls Sara because she, too, had heard voices and tried to kill Ethan because she thought it would get her home.
Elgin is too brainwashed into believing that Fatima and the baby are the key, so he refuses to reveal her location.
Boyd decides to use violent methods, going against the advice his hallucination Father Khatri gives him.
Acosta happens to come at the wrong moment and tries to put an end to the torture after Boyd smashes Elgin's hand with a hammer.
A Polaroid photo shows Boyd's retirement home, and he thinks the evil in this place is trying to con him too.
While everyone is discussing how to deal with Elgin, Sara decides that since she is already deemed a villain by the town, she can save Boyd from going down the wrong path by inflicting proper torture on Elgin.
She uses a screwdriver to gouge his eye out. The screaming brings the group upstairs, and Sara tells them that Fatima is in the cellar.
By then, Fatima is experiencing labour pains, and the kimono woman helps her out. She removes a large lump of mass from inside her and takes it downstairs.
Tabitha, Jade, and Jim figure out the twelve numbers may be musical notes. Jade plays the tune on a violin near the hanging tree.
All the dead children that only Jade and Tabitha can see approach them. A girl comes up to Tabitha, and she finally realizes what Anghkooey means. It means to remember.
Jade and Tabitha remember who they are.
Fatima tells the others that the creatures revealed to her that in the past, they had sacrificed their children to live long lives.
Tabitha and Jade had a child a very long time ago, and they had tried to save their child from being sacrificed but failed.
Now, they must repeat their lives over and over and try to save the children. Tabitha remembers being Miranda as well.
So...she was Victor's mother?
Boyd goes down the stairs to find out what the "baby" was. All the creatures have it encircled. The lump grows into the figure of the smiley man creature. Boyd is shocked.
Elsewhere, Ethan thinks Julie's seizures and her ability to go into different worlds and experience events that have already occurred means that she is a story walker.
Julie thinks she can save Thomas and Tian Chen, but Ethan tells her she can not change the past.
Tabitha walks off in the woods, asking for some time to process this while Jade looks at the children in shock.
Jim hears Julie calling out for him. But she has darker, shorter hair. A yellow suit man approaches him and attacks him. Julie tries to intervene, but she is thrown aside.
The yellow suit man rips Jim's throat out.
The show leaves us on another cliffhanger.
Fortunately, FROM has been renewed for the fourth season. The disappointing part? It will come in 2026!
Season 4 may be about the past and how the creatures came to he, according to rumours.
But hopefully, it is also about how the creatures are reborn and if anyone else will get pregnant.
Maybe Julie will find a way to change the past and save her father?
It will be interesting to see how the residents finally escape the town.
