Horror Movie Spotlight: GOOD BOY

Here’s some good news, GOOD BOY may be the first horror movie where the dog actually lives!

At least that’s the result of a quick online search on the movie.

Directed by Ben Leonberg, the movie is about a man, Todd, who moves into his rural family home with his dog Indy after a family member dies. But when dark, supernatural entities threaten the owner, it is up to Indy to save the day as he is the only one who can see them.

The movie has already been premiered in the SXSW Festival among others and has received positive feedback from critics, currently holding a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

In the trailer, we get to see a cute little brown dog with floppy ears and kind eyes. He is no doubt man’s best friends through good times and…

In the next instant, Indy hears a knocking sound. He goes all over the house to investigate and in one instant thinks he sees an intruder. In the following flashes of scenes, we see him trying to alert his owner, being chained in the rain, and desperately trying to get to the bottom of the haunting mystery.

Good Boy is told entirely through the dog’s perspective, which means that when we see pets in horror movies barking incessantly, we now get to see what they actually see.

Imagine being a creature who is well-loved but is unable to communicate when there is danger nearby? Just how exactly can one save the ones they love?

The Good Boy was acquired by Shudder for distribution, and because the movie trailer and theme have gone viral, it is now getting a theater release.

Apart from Indy, who is director Ben Leonberg’s own dog, the cast also includes Shane Jensen, Arielle Friedman, and Larry Fessenden.

GOOD BOY is set to release in cinemas on October 3rd.
