The story is gripping from the very first page as it introduces the character who is an interviewer for a podcast. He travels all the way to meet Megan, who though overwhelmed with her responsibilities towards keeping the house and taking care of her kids, is managing to the best of her abilities.
But she has a past, and a scar that she has chosen not to hide.
The creepy segment comes in the next part when we meet Louis Harding. He is on a boat catching crabs off-season, he comes across an unusual woman who is missing her torso. When she speaks to him, Louis is horrified but tries to help her only for her to bite off his finger.
When he flings her into the water, her voice beckons him to join her into the depths.
We then meet Megan in the past and learn about her struggles as an Art Student.
The book is immensely engaging and the story keeps you hooked throughout. The descriptions are concise and never draw you away from the story. The pace is consistent and keeps you on your toes.
The author excels at his craft by keeping the reader involved on every page.
