Spirits in the Dark-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: Gil is sent a mysterious video that shows a necklace his wife used to wear. Believing that his deceased wife is trying to contact him, he sets about to investigate the location.  Here’s a handy cam. Go make a movie. I don’t know who first gave this advice but it was probably a not very sound one. There have been a couple of decent “found-footage” movies in the past, sadly Spirits in the Dark misses the mark. The only interesting part is that the actor isn’t your usual heavily-makeup-ed one and someone who is always at the gym. It’s someone who can be anyone. It’s not only the model types who grieve and experience terrifying incidents in their lives, you know. Normal people too are allowed to experience emotions.

Gretel and Hansel-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When siblings Gretel and Hansel are sent away by their mother, they stumble upon a cottage in the woods and come across a vicious witch. We’ve all heard the story of Hansel and Gretel when we were kids. A brother and sister are taken to the woods and left by their father who can no longer feed his ravenous children. The mother/stepmother just wants to get rid of the pesky kids. The children roam around the woods for some time before they come upon a house made out of candy. The ever-hungry kids immediately start feeding on the treats when the woman who lives in the house, comes out and captures Hansel who was too slow to run away. Turns out the woman is a witch who has been trapping kids by luring them with candy so that she can fatten them up and eat them up. Hansel is given a lot of food and Gretel lols for an opportunity to get rid of the witch. Then one day when she sees the witch preparing the furnace to cook Hansel, Gretel pushes the witch in and she perishes.

The Dinner Party-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Jeff and Hayley are invited to a dinner party, little do they know the danger they have put themselves in.  For a movie that is called the Dinner Party, don’t expect any such displays of sumptuous food-laden tables or an entertaining evening between friends. In fact, it would be wise to not eat anything before you watch this movie because when it comes down to the twist, you may just find yourself puking on the side.

You're not alone-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: Emma feels like she is losing it when she moves into a new house with her daughter Isla, and unexplained things begin to happen.  It’s come to a point that from now on real estate agents will not only have to disclose if there have been any murders taken place in houses but also reveal if anyone is living behind the walls. How many movies have used the same idea of an attacker living behind the walls, spying on the family, finding some weird, voyeuristic joy in stalking them before killing them?

No Escape-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: A popular Vlogger wants to celebrate his ten year anniversary as a star by travelling to Moscow with his friends. Once there, the friends engage in an Escape Room game where the dangers are real.  With friends like these, who needs enemies? You must have heard of that saying but thought, who would ever use that? Who would make friends that behave worse than enemies? Well, there’s another saying to explain that. We never really know who our friends really are, do we? No Escape is a classic example of all this and another one: when good intentions go bad...

Artik-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: A serial killer called Artik is obsessed with drawing his victims in a comic book. When his son befriends a stranger, Artik fears his secrets will be exposed.  What is the measure of courage? What feat must you accomplish to be labelled as a brave person? Facing fears is considered to be an act of bravery. But for anyone, the biggest fear is dealing with a dangerous criminal. So what we do is avoid streets that are thought to be unsafe. We avoid people who even look shady. We are being responsible when we do that. But what if, a seemingly innocent encounter with someone turns out to lead to an extremely dangerous situation? Do we try to help the innocent caught in the midst, or look the other way? That decision will measure the true level of bravery.
