Bhoot: Part One- The Haunted Ship --My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When a ghost ship washes ashore, it is up to Prithvi, a shipping officer to solve the mystery behind it.  In 2002 came a horror movie with perhaps the most spine-chilling intro ever! Yes, Ghost Ship started off with a scene that I still remember vividly till today. As soon as this movie was announced, I did believe that this was going to be Bollywood’s take on one of the cult movies.   Bhoot disappointedly is not Ghost Ship.  There are a few familiar elements, but the movie is basically a story about one man who singlehandedly tries to find out everything about a ship that washed up on the shores of Mumbai. Yes, this was one of the implausible parts. A ship without a crew washes up on one of the popular beaches, investigations are going on, yet there are trespassers who get in because there is no one patrolling the area. And why would people want to play hide and seek in a dilapidated ship when things are just basically waiting to fall over your head? Who knows.

A Night of Horror: Nightmare Radio-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: A DJ at a local radio station has a show about horror stories not realizing he's in one of them.  Anthologies can sometimes be a risky pick as a viewer. You just know there’s going to be maybe one good story in the mix that you’re going to like. The rest are just supporting that one good story. So you sit through the whole movie, expecting that there will be another good story because the one you enjoyed was cleverly placed somewhere in the middle. Things can only get better now, right? Most times the stories that follow are tedious, uninteresting and simply added to increase the running time.

Fantasy Island-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: Five Strangers are invited by Mr Roarke to an island where all their fantasies are about to come true.  What if everyone in the world were given a chance to have one of their fantasies come true? Would the world be a happier place? Or would the people be unsatisfied?

The Hunt-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: Twelve Strangers are chosen to be hunted. Only the strong will survive.   If you’ve not seen the trailer of The Hunt like me, you’ll be surprised by the twists that keep coming from the opening scene itself. For me, the best twist was not in the story, but the way the opening scene is directed and the way you keep trying to guess whose story will we be following. We see Emma Roberts and think, oh, so she’s the protagonist. Two seconds later, she’s shot in the head. The camera shifts to another actor and we think again, so this is going to be his story. Again, no. By the time we figure things out and who is going to survive and if it is a story about a single person or many, we are pulled into another question, who is the enemy? Who can be trusted? And most importantly, why is this happening?

Coronavirus: Let's Panic!

A rapidly spreading disease, thousands infected and dead. The only preventive measure advised everywhere: wash your hands. Surely, it can’t be that simple ,  can it? As countries implement shut down of places, cancel events, restrict travel and ask people to stay at home, there is a primal fear that is generated. Our will to survive kicks in and our logical and over-analytical minds urge us to act more than just wash hands. No, we have to wear masks that will filter the air that enters our nose and mouth. No, we have to stock up on groceries and sanitary items because if countries have restricted travel, how much longer before they stop imports and exports? There is a vaccine being developed but it will take months before it enters the market. What will we do till then? Unfortunately, the virus is of microscopic size. We cannot see it in the air we breathe, or the surfaces we touch. Had we been able to see those pesky, threatening, lethal enemy, we would have been able to safeguard

Brahms: The Boy II-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Liza and Sean's mute son befriends a doll named Brahms, the parents quickly realize the doll comes with a dark history.  You know how people move into a new house in horror movies and are instantly haunted by some ghost that was always waiting for the next family to spook? Well, Brahms: The Boy 2 starts off things differently.

The Invisible Man--My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: Cecilia thinks she has escaped her abusive boyfriend but soon finds he will use any means possible to get her back.  An unknown enemy can be dangerous. You are attacked but you can’t do much about it. Kind of like a virus or bacteria. They will make you sick and if you could see them, you would do whatever it takes to defend yourself. Of course, if you knew what kind of virus or bacteria it is, you could fend their attacks better. Now imagine if you knew who your enemy was but was unable to see them. This enemy knows everything about you, and most importantly knows what you fear. Well, that’s a great premise for a horror movie, isn’t it? The Invisible Man captures your interest in the very first scene.
