Who was phone?-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: After Fiona's boyfriend is murdered, she tries to get to the bottom of the mystery before the killer strikes again.  Yes, that is actually the title of the movie: Who was Phone? If you are a master in meme culture, you would know that the title itself is part of a meme. And the movie? That is a lesson in memes itself. In order to get the jokes, you need to know your memes. The very first scene is based on the meme that is also the title of the movie.

The Curse of Audrey Earnshaw-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: In a town suffering from plague and famine, only Agatha is prospering. According to rumours, it has something to do with her daughter Audrey whom no one has seen.  There’s a running joke on the internet where women in the olden days were not allowed to speak their mind and if they did and expressed their feelings or have ideas, she was termed a witch.

Come Play-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: An autistic boy makes an unlikely friend that manifests through mobile phones and tablets. It is up to his mother to save her son from this obsessive friend.   There was a time when people evaluated themselves over the number of friends they have. Those who had none were thought to be living in despair. Then came the internet and then social media, and people who had friends in real life wanted to be popular online too. It didn’t matter if they were actually hanging out with their friends in real life what mattered was how many likes they could garner from their online friends. It has become a common sight to see teens especially, looking down at their phones rather than living the moment with their friends. Those who didn’t have friends in real life found solace in online apps where they made friends. Now that the internet is here, not many people are lonely anymore, are they?

On Halloween-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: A journalist investigates a series of killings by an evil clown.  I’ve never understood why people fear clowns. My first encounter with them was at the circus. Honestly, I felt they were the most boring part of the circus. They had the same tricks, the same attempt at humour which included juggling with balls and dropping one on their heads. I was never impressed by that. My favourite part of the circus acts were the tightrope acrobats, the animals, and magic tricks. The clowns were unfunny to me. Just people wearing bright, colourful clothes and a lot of makeup. So I never understood why some people have Coulrophobia. And another reason why I didn’t find the IT clown scary. Maybe it’s the makeup that people get scared of. What are they trying to hide? They’ve painted on smiles. Are they really smiling or have malicious intent? And anyone can put on makeup and roam around the streets without anyone suspecting they might be a criminal.
