Awoken-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Karla agrees to conduct an experimental procedure on her brother Blake who suffers from insomnia, little does she know the true intentions of the doctor is going to put her in danger. Sometimes you pick a movie randomly. You just see the poster, think it’s creepy looking and the title made you curious. You don’t want to read the synopsis because you want to be surprised and watch the movie with an open mind. Then the opening card comes in and gives away the whole plot. Now you know Awoken is about Fatal Familial Insomnia. But that’s not all. 1 in 3 people has some form of sleep disorder, 95% of the people who are unable to sleep for more than 18 days, rarely survive. But if they do, they don’t need a doctor anymore, but a priest.

Creepy Legends: The Pied Piper of Hamelin

Remember that story where a man dressed in colorful clothes and hat played a magical tune that made all the rats follow him to their death? Turns out that story isn’t as innocent as told in children stories. The Pied Piper in the books goes on to play his magical tune when the mayor refuses to pay him for his service. Only this time, his hypnotic tune is played for the children in the town who follow him into a cave. The mayor pays the Pied Piper who then returns the children to their parents. Even with all the colorful pictures and funny faces of the characters in the children’s book, one cannot stop but see an obvious kidnapping crime depicted in the story. The Pied Piper abducted children because the Mayor didn’t pay? The kids are returned once the ransom is paid? Doesn’t seem much like a story you want to tell kids once you begin to analyze. Anyway, that’s barely the tip of the iceberg of the story that is supposed to be based on real events. Sometimes in 1284 in the town of

Dreamkatcher--My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: Desperate to rid himself of nightmares, Josh steals a dreamcatcher, unaware he has taken something far more evil instead.  If you’re looking at the title and wondering why Dreamcatcher is spelled wrong, the opening card will dispel your doubts. It’s not a typo. It’s on purpose because you see, dream catchers are supposed to help you give good dreams and a dreamkatcher holds evil inside it. Does a Dreamkatcher look different from a dreamcatcher? Is it perhaps a triangle and has different feathers hanging from it? Apparently, the letter K is the only difference.

Creepy Urban Legends: El Sombreron

If you’ve seen horses and dogs with their tails braided, rest assured that El Sombrerón is nearby. That is also when you should consider warning women with long hair to be on the lookout for a short man, wearing a large hat and clothes in black. He is most likely to also be carrying a silver guitar and will stand under balconies to serenade women with large eyes and long hair. This all sounds a bit romantic but interacting with El Sombrerón can have drastic side effects. He does woo women and if they too happen to fall for him, they are unable to eat or drink for days, wasting away until their death. For some reason, any food these women are served has soil mixed in them making it inedible. The poor woman is probably entrances or else you would wonder why she would fall in love with a short man who has an opaque face and in some renderings, looks like an old man. His appeal is thought to be the songs he sings for his beloved, one that only the woman can hear. The El Sombrerón appears

The Voices-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: Grace visits her schizophrenic sister Catherine to write a thesis on her. Soon she realizes there may be a haunting at play too.  You know things are going to go haywire the minute a movie begins with a long drive to a remote home. Cut out from everything and everyone, I don’t know why families in horror movies even opt for homes like these. Yeah, a break from everything seems nice at first glance, but can you imagine going one day without WIFi, favourite snacks, pharmacies and restaurants to order from? Unless of course, there is a secret one just preserve, then it’s understandable why some people prefer a cabin or home far from the inquisitive eyes of the outside world. THE VOICES Movie Plot  The story begins with Grace taking a long drive to her family home. On the way, she is accosted by a strange woman who slaps at her windshield. Grace, seeing that the woman is homeless, gets out of her car and offers her a sandwich and money. The woman stares at her like she’s an i

The Wretched-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: Ben believes that a witch is possessing the neighbor and kidnapping and feeding on children.  It’s raining. There are toys still outside in the playground, getting wet and dirty. You will find yourself asking questions: why weren’t they picked up? If the kids didn’t, why did the parents leave them out to get dirty? These questions are answered in the second half of the movie. Then it all makes sense, even this opening credit scene. The Wretched is another movie about the dangerous creatures lurking in the woods. The woods are after all dark and deep, a place horror writers can make their playground and invent creatures that will terrify the characters in their story. I’ve done it too with one of my stories.

Creepy Urban Legends: Bocca Della Verita

Z (2020)-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: When Beth's son Josh creates an imaginary friend called Z, Beth must pry him away from the dangers Z brings upon the family. Imaginary friends, no one takes them seriously. The kids make up a ridiculous, funny creature in their mind when they are lonely and are learning to form friendships. As soon as they make some decent friends, out these imaginary friends go. The parents hardly care about imaginary friends because they know it’s just a phase the kid is going through. They will play along with every single thing their kid says about their friend. Oh, the friend wants a plate of their own, sure. The imaginary friend has a dumb name, ok. As long as their kid doesn’t publicly state they have an imaginary friend with that stupid name, who cares right? In a couple of years, they will all forget that little creature that needs someone to believe in it, ever existed. But what about that creature? As soon as it is birthed, does it go completely depend on its creator or can
