Bulbbul-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: A series of unexplained murders causes the people of a village to believe that something supernatural is afoot. Have you ever wondered when the stories of witches and demons came about? There was a time when incidents occurred that couldn’t be explained, probably because the law enforcers were restricted by the knowledge that later led to the development of forensic science and technology that has made it so much easier to nab criminals. But centuries ago, a victim found bloodied and with wounds on his neck meant it the villagers were being stalked by a demon. These stories spread over time and have given us something to inspire us to write and be enthralled by them. In India, the most common evil to plague villagers was the Chudail, a witch with long hair and backward feet. She is thought to sit atop trees, searching for her next victim. That is why there is a superstition about going under certain trees as soon as the sun sets. The theme has been brought forward in Bulb

The Turning (2020)-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: Based on the Henry James story The Turn of the Screw, a young governess is hired to take care of a little girl but it is when her brother returns from school, that some terrible secrets about the family are revealed.  Fortunate are those teachers and nannies, who are given the responsibility of well-behaved, sweet, and innocent little children. Then there are those kids, that have nannies fleeing for their lives in the middle of the night.

You Should Have Left-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Theo and Susanna take their daughter Ella to a vacation home, little do they realize the house's terrifying secret. Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night, thought about a random event in the past and thought, “I shouldn’t have done that.” It could be as simple as saying no to a glass of water from someone who was being polite, or it could be saying something mean you said to someone without realizing it would be hurtful at that time. That’s the thing with guilt. It pounces on you at the worst moment and keeps building a cage around you. If not dealt with, it could lead to some serious consequences, especially if the incident is serious. You Should Have Left is eventually about guilt and being trapped by it.

Horror Creatures: Cthulhu

Deep in the southern Pacific Ocean, lies the sunken city R’lyeh. And what is this place? It’s a prison for the great creature called Cthulhu that needs to keep sleeping or he will bring with him the end of the world. Cthulhu was born from the imagination of H.P. Lovecraft. A prolific writer who generated stories still loved and cherished by all. Cthulhu, who is often drawn as a creature with an octopus head, wings of a dragon and a caricature of the human form, is perhaps the most popular creatures to come from the mind of H.P. Lovecraft. Cthulhu became so popular over the years that many cults formed all over the world, trying to awaken the creature from its deathlike sleep. Let’s hope he keeps slumbering.

Creepy Legends: Mrs Don't-Come-Running

You know how in Family movies, whenever a kid scrapes his or her knee, the mother comes and makes a big fuss? Her whole world falls apart and at that moment, she drops everything she’s doing, especially something career related, and runs to her child to make sure he or she is alright. Kids who watch these movies put that pressure on their parents then. “Why can’t you be like that mom?” They will ask. “Why can’t you drop everything you own when you see me fall and kiss my boo-boos away?” I guess some parents will agree to it, while others may counter with, “what were you doing running around the play area anyway? Why were you standing in front of the swings when you know kids were on it? Why were you climbing up the slide when you are supposed to, you know SLIDE down? In any case, the parents feel pressurized to live up to their kids’ expectations. But the question is, how do you discipline them? By sharing a scary story, of course. Legend has it, that long ago there was a woman

Infernum-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After her parents disappear during a camping trip when she was a kid, Camille, now all grown up, launches an investigation behind the strange phenomenon that was responsible for the incident.  Here’s a question: should you stay and fight? Or run to fight another day? Or maybe run and never fight at all. Because here’s the thing about being brave, there’s a good chance things won’t go as planned. There’s a small chance you’ll be rewarded for your efforts, and that too if you survive. The reason this question comes to mind is because of the very first scene in the movie.

The Village in the Woods-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A couple is lured into a village where nothing and no one is as they seems.  I think I’ve finally figured out why popcorn is the favoured snack while watching a movie. The constant crunching, the kernels getting stuck somewhere between teeth, all this and more is what keeps the mind active. If people were to drink tea or water and watch a movie that drags on, well they would fall asleep. The Village in the Woods has all the qualities of a sleep-inducing move. There’s too much fog, there are just a few characters and none of them are interesting enough, the plot too eager to appear exciting, and the climax...if you blink, you’ll miss it. The Village in the Woods could have been a good atmospheric movie had the writing been solid. The movie drags on before a scene toward the end describes what is exactly going on. And it’s just two people talking about it. There is also a lack of scenes to create tension and fear. The only actors who make somewhat of an impact are the villa

Body Cam-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A cop discovers that a video showing the truth behind her colleague's death, plays only for her. It is up to her to solve the mystery.  It’s hard to imagine a time when there was no law enforcement keeping our city safe. No one patrolling the streets at night, and when a crime was committed, no police officers chasing the criminal. It has become one of those things which we take for granted. We do lock our doors at night, but also don’t live in constant fear of being attacked because there are people out there who have vowed to serve and protect us. The biggest betrayal is when the people we thought are going to protect us, end up hurting us. Fortunately, these corrupt police officers are few. Still, when there’s a horror movie about police officers, the fear isn’t about the ghosts that are chasing them, but in watching them hurt an incident, because hey, how could they do that? They’re supposed to be protecting us at all costs. Body Cam Movie Plot In the first scene

Vivarium-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: Gemma and Tom are searching for their forever home and end up being trapped in a community of identical houses.  Did you know cuckoos don’t make their own nest? They go in search of other bird nests and when they find one unattended by the mother, they drop an egg or so and replace it with their own. The cuckoos that hatch out aren’t so great either. Their instinct is to push down the other baby birds. Cuckoos seem like such ungrateful jerks, don’t they? Well, they aren’t the only ones. Apparently, aliens do that as well.

Crawl-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: Hayley is searching for her father during a hurricane when she finds herself facing a bigger threat: alligators.  The thing about using animals and reptiles in horror movies is that the shock elements wear off pretty quickly. One of the characters will be wandering about when the first attack from a creature occurs. That scene will probably make you jump. Where did that come from? Then another attack occurs and you’ll find yourself thinking, oh wow, these creatures are dangerous. How is the protagonist going to deal with it?
