It Comes At Night-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When a mysterious infection grips the world, Paul will do whatever it takes to save his family when he invites a young couple to take shelter in his house.  Faced with a COVID-19 pandemic, I’m sure we are all faced with a rising concern of being infected or any of our loved ones being infected. While staying home seems like a protective and preventive measure, a small part of us still eyes everyone else we see when we go out for groceries or medicines, as possibly infected. That fear quickly turns into distrust. Yes, everyone is wearing masks and gloves, but what if they are hiding a disease? Fortunately, we also do live in a civilized society wherein people are careful and maintain a distance everywhere you go. If you are avoiding them, guess what? They don’t want to be close to you either.

The Babysitter-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Cole decides to stay up late to spy on his babysitter, he is shocked to discover that she has invited friends over not for a party but to perform rituals for her satanic cult.  Babysitters have always been honored for holding the most important job of taking care of kids. Imagine taking care of a kid you have no relation to and making sure they are fine until their parents return home. In the past, there have been several movies depicting babysitters as heroes. They either take their charges on adventures or teach them important life lessons. In some cases, they save the kids from deranged serial killers. The parents entrust their kids to someone they think they know will do whatever it takes to protect their kids. Not all babysitters are like that. Certainly not in horror movies.

The Lodge-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Grace is left with her boyfriend's kids at The Lodge, they play a mean trick on her with dire consequences.  How many times have we been told to let go of resentment feelings when someone has hurt us? Move on, they say. “They” in question, have not really experienced your kind of hurt. They are being objective when they dole out advice that they think will benefit you. It’s when you hear it the first time, that you think, how can they possibly understand what you’re going through? As time passes though, the resentment turns to hate, and that, in turn, leads to misery. Eventually, you chose yourself for giving up so much time thinking about that one person who doesn’t even deserve a place in your thoughts. Because that one person is never even going to apologize. They didn’t think they did anything wrong, to begin with.

Creepy Urban Legends: The Vanishing Lady

Image by Yinan Chen from Pixabay  Somewhere around the 1800s, a mother and daughter come to Paris and take two hotel rooms. The mother chooses room 342 that is decorated with velvet curtains and flowered wallpaper. She later collapses, after which the daughter calls on the house doctor who advises her mother’s medication can only be found on the other side of town.

Behind You-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: Two girls are sent to live with their aunt after their mother passes away. There they find the mirrors covered. When one of the girls is tricked into uncovering a mirror, a malevolent spirit is released.  After watching tons of horror movies, isn’t it a great relief to see your reflection in the mirror and not someone else’s? Plus, the person you see in the mirror doesn’t gesture differently and give wicked smiles. Watching these scenes in movies is one thing, we actually begin to expect it and hardly flinch when the reflection doesn’t bow their head down while the person is washing their face. They stare back, smile and cause extreme terror in the person. Now, what if, you do come across a mirror that is inaccurate. And it’s not about seeing every pore and every pimple or blackhead on your skin, or even a slimmer or fuller figure. What if what you see in the mirror isn’t even you? It’s some creepy entity that wants to come out and is using the mirror as a gate. Would y

1BR-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: Sarah moves into a new apartment not realizing her friendly neighbours have a hidden agenda for her.  Let’s face it, some of us have always dreamed of escaping whatever is going on in our lives and starting anew somewhere far away from where the people are less complicated, and you have a place to call home.
