  It's that time of the year that horror fans everywhere look forward to. Halloween is when the majority of horror movies are released around that time. This year, there were several horror movies that proved to be profitable at the box office.

  Plot: In the series finale, we learn the deal Roderick and Madeline made with Verna which results in the entire Usher bloodline dealing with the consequences. The story is finally coming to an end. The eighth episode of The Fall of the House of Usher is long and filled with monologues reminiscent of Midnight Mass.

  Plot: Frederick is hell-bent on making Morella pay for her mistakes, not realizing that Verna is closing on in him. The seventh episode tries to bring in some much needed twists to the story that eventually gives a glimpse into how ruthless the Ushers can be. So far, there had been little revealed about the Ushers and if they truly deserved the punishment Verna was dishing out.

  Plot: Tamerlane prepares for her product launch after her breakup with Bill. But nothing goes as planned. The sixth episode of the Fall of the Usher may be titled after Edgar Allan Poe's short story The Goldbug although you will try to find the similarities in the stories.

  This week's Horror Book Recommendation is WITH A BLIGHTED TOUCH written by J. Todd Kingrea. The novel is published by BHC Press and was released on 24th October 2023.

  PLOT: Cherie's dinner meeting with Ethan turns into a date. The date puts Cherie in grave danger. First things first, Run Sweetheart Run isn’t exactly easy to watch. It is about a woman facing harassment and having no one believe her much less stand up for her. Secondly, the movie takes a little more time than needed to get to the point. Third, was there really a point to break the fourth wall?

  Plot: Victorine deals with the consequences of her argument with Ali regarding the experiments. The Tell-Tale Heart is another one of Edgar Allan Poe's well-known stories. It has been adapted several times over the years ever since the story was published in 1843.

We may have seen masked vigilantes serving up justice to those criminals who walk away scot-free, but now we have a new hero. 

  Plot: After accidentally killing Julius' cat, Leo adopts a similar looking cat. But the cat makes Leo's life difficult. The Black Cat is perhaps one of the most popular stories of Edgar Allan Poe. If anything, it is rather frightening.

  Plot: In the aftermath of Perry's death, Camille tries to gain public sympathy while investigating Victorine who she suspects is the informant. The third episode is titled MURDER IN THE RUE MORGUE.

  Plot: Roderick tells Dupin about the events that lead to Perry's death The second episode of THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER continues with the momentum of the show. The second episode is titled THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH.

  The spooky season cannot be complete until there are bloodthirsty vampires roaming about in a post-apocalyptic world.  And so horror fans need not be disappointed as here comes a vampire movie that will release on Halloween!

The first episode of any show acts as a hook. It has to give a taste of what it is going to be about and what viewers can expect from it.

  PLOT: Adam and Margo are in for a bizarre night of their lives when a couple refuses to leave after their housewarming party. You throw a party. You have a good time with your friends. The guests leave at an appropriate time. You clear the house and then sit back and relax. The party was a success. But uh-oh...some of the guests didn't leave.   It’s that time of the year again when the festival season isn’t complete without a horror Christmas movie. This time we get to see a fun, horror take on the Christmas Classic, It’s a Wonderful Life.

  The Fall of the House of Usher is another ambitious project helmed by Mike Flanagan. After Haunting of Hill House, Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, and The Midnight Club, this time Mike Flanagan adapts the works of Edgar Allan Poe. The Fall of the House of Usher appears to be more of a tribute to the famed author and poet of the 1800s. Even some of the show characters are named after the author's characters in his works. Mike Flanagan makes impeccable and proper use of Edgar Allan Poe's oeuvre in the series although for some it can be an overload of goth literature and not enough of an originality. Edgar Allan Poe's works were mostly about disturbed minds, murder, and loss. There was a darkness about the stories and poems that captured you. The stories showed just how fragile a mind can be, and how close we are to the boundaries that stop us from committing a sin.   This week’s Horror Book Recommendation is JUST STAY AWAY written by Tony Wirt.  Published in October 2023, the book is already on the bestsellers list for Horror Suspense and Domestic Thrillers. 

  PLOT: When Elias and Lukas go to live with their mother, they begin to suspect that the woman with bandages on her face may not be their mother. Remember the movie The Changeling where the mother suspects that the boy that was returned to her is an impostor. Well, Goodnight Mommy is sort of like that but twisted around a bit. This time the kids think their mother is an impostor.

  It’s Friday the 13th and it’s the perfect time to indulge in spooky stories.  And maybe watch a movie inspired by a true haunting? 

  PLOT SUMMARY: When Howard awakens, he finds himself in an autopsy room. He knows he isn't dead. The problem is that the doctors don't know that yet. There's something grotesque and chilling about the word autopsy. The opening of bodies, the removal of organs, all of these images just pop into the mind when you think of the word Autopsy.

  Plot Summary: Naru sets about to prove her hunting prowess by taking out a threat to her tribe. You know what’s frustrating? Knowing that you are capable of doing so many things but having people tell you that you must resign yourself to a particular role and take away any opportunities that come your way.

  This week’s Horror Book Recommendation is SLIME DOESN’T PAY by R.L. Stine. While it’s not a part of the Goosebumps series, fans will find the story structure to be reminiscent of the author’s famous series.

  What would you do to survive? Would you consider giving up your morals in order to stay alive? Shudder’s newest thriller NIGHT OF THE HUNTED will have you sitting at the edge of your seat and make you think twice before entering a gas station in the middle of nowhere.

  PLOT: After her best friend gets possessed, Abby must find a way to get her back before she hurts more of their friends. What would you do for your best friend? Share your last sandwich? Wake up at 2 am to take their call? Pick them up from the airport no matter what time is their flight? Would you also be willing to go against a demon to save your friend? No? Well, Abby sure does and she utilizes a unique way to dispel the demon.
