Jakob's Wife-- Movie ending spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: A couple's relationship is challenged when the wife turns into a vampire.

Thirty years of marriage is a long time. At this point, I would imagine that the husband and wife know pretty much everything about each other and either develop a deeper love for each other or become each other's habit and learned to endure those little annoying habits.

JAKOB'S WIFE Movie Plot

Jakob is a Pastor and his wife of thirty years is Anne.

There is something about the way Anne looks at her husband when he delivers his sermon, or when he eats or brushes his teeth. And then there is his snoring which Anne finds so unbearable that she gets up in the middle of the night and heads to another room to do some knitting and embroidery.

The couple is also advisors to the churchgoers, and are deeply concerned about Amelia who is taking care of her mother who has gone back to drinking again.

One night, while Amelia is walking down lonely streets in the dark, she hears her name and is attacked by an unseen assailant.

Everyone is on the lookout for Amelia but no one can find her.

Meanwhile, Anne is excited about her old flame, Tom Low coming to town to get the old mill working again.

She informs Jakob that she's meeting him and her husband isn't too pleased but at the same time gives her the go-ahead because he fully trusts his wife.

Anne takes careful measures to dress up for her date with Tom; applying red lipstick, then forgoing it because apparently red lipstick is synonymous with seduction.

Tom is happy to see her and the two reconnect. He asks how she could have settled for a quiet life considering how adventurous she was in high school. Anne replies that Jakob is a good man and that she is very happy with him.

When they go to check out the mill, they find two crates and Anne is initially perplexed because they weren't there before.

Tom doesn't care much and thinks of it as a good place to sit and kiss Anne.

When they hear sounds, they open the crates to find hundreds of rats who immediately climb atop Tom.

Anne, who previously called Tom handsome, is no longer attracted to him and makes a run for it only to be accosted by someone in a cape.

Jakob is at home making calls to his friends, concerned for his wife who still hasn't returned. When she does, she refuses to show her face and heads straight to the bathroom where she checks her wounded neck and has a breakdown.

Anne's transformation begins with her cutting off her hair in a stylish hairstyle, wearing bold makeup and classy clothes.

Jakob thinks she's dressing up for Tom, unaware he has become a meal for the rats by now.

Anne is unable to take regular food and is beckoned by the call of blood oozing from meat in a supermarket. The butcher is shocked when the minister's wife asks for a bag of blood but he knows better than to ask too many questions.

Anne's hunger is sated but she is still a target for The Master who appears outside her house and makes her stand by the window and pleasure herself.

Jakob catches her in the act and is pissed. He confided in his friend that he is certain his wife is having an affair with Tom to which his friend suggests he give a firm talk to Tom.

Anne in the meantime is having fun with her new powers and rearranges the furniture, picking up the sofa with one hand and setting it easily anywhere. She is dancing, having fun and when her husband is snoring at night, hits him with a pillow to wake him up.

When Jakob can't find Tom anywhere to have his firm talk with, he goes to the last place he was seen, which was the mill. He encounters two druggies who harass him and are now at the mill loitering about.

The guy is immediately attacked by someone and the girl finally believes in religion and asks for the minister's help. Jakob in turn is shocked to find the attacker is none other than Amelia who is bloodthirsty.

After she makes a comment about his wife, Jakob rushes home to find Anne feeding on someone after running out of blood. Jakob is shocked to discover his wife can't stand sunlight anymore or get teeth whitening treatment without burning her mouth.

Before he can react, the sheriff appears at his doorstep to tell him that a girl had come to him to report an attack in the mill and swears Jakob was with her.

Jakob denies it even as the sheriff hands him the Bible he had dropped in fear after encountering Amelia's transformed state.

Jakob and Anne have a talk and while she admits she did kiss Tom she has no idea what happened to him. When Anne learns what happened to Amelia, she tells him that they will have to kill her now.

Jakob preps himself with holy water and a stake but when they go to the mill, he is reluctant to kill her.

Anne calls him a wuss and deals with Amelia herself while Jakob wonders if his wife has turned evil.

Nevertheless, he took a sacred vow and isn't about to abandon his wife now. When she requires feeding again, he finds an old woman who has already died and wraps her in a blanket and brings it to their home so Anne can bleed her dry.

JAKOB'S WIFE Ending Explained with Spoilers!

As luck would have it, Jakob's brother and his wife arrive and enter without ringing the bell. They catch Anne draining an old woman and collecting her blood.

The sheriff is called and Jakob rushes home. He is clearly conflicted about what to do with his wife who has turned evil.

The cops come to take Anne but the Master arrives just in time to protect her and gets rid of Jakob's brother and sister-in-law.

The police are taken aback to see that vampires do really exist and are uncertain how to react.

The Master gives Anne a choice to transform completely so that she can constrain her hunger.

She is deciding on that when Jakob stakes the Master who perishes immediately.

Anne is pissed because her right to choose was taken away.

The cops leave after deciding to lie about what really happened tonight.

Anne and Jakob sit on the couch and consider what to do next.

Anne thinks it would be better to change Jakob so that they can spend eternity together while Jakob considers staking his wife to free her from the vampire curse.

In the end, they both reach out to each other, she with her fangs, and he with his stake.

The movie ends without showing us the outcome.

Jakob's wife is a nice take on a vampire myth and it was interesting to see an ordinary, elderly couple rather than teen vampires who suddenly take a liking to leather clothing and dark makeup.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
