Unhuman--My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: A group of high school students on a trip are attacked by what they assume is a zombie.

High School can be challenging and a contest to see who can emerge as the most popular student. High School is also about people not getting along with each other and then tormenting and insulting them until graduation.

There have been several movies in the past about high school students who don't get along and then somehow do and apologize to each other in the end because of some sappy drama or another.

Unhuman does things a little differently and at first, it is almost entertaining but then somewhere towards the third act, the movie becomes messy and a little ridiculous.

UNHUMAN Movie Plot

The movie begins with Ever being picked up by her best friend Tamra.  They are heading off to school and then going on a fieldtrip.

Ever feels insecure about losing the only friend she has in school to the popular kids. The girls are chatting and Tamra decides to not pay attention to the road ahead which leads to them hitting a cyclist.

Tamra is sure he's dead and Ever gets out of the car to check up on the guy. Turns out it is none other than their classmate Randall. Ever knows his name, Tamra doesn’t, Randall isn’t even paying attention to what Ever is saying. He's clearly smitten with Tamra. It also doesn’t matter to him that he's been hit by a car.

Ever tries to ask him if he is okay but he has big heart eyes for Tamra only. Until a red slushie is thrown at him.

It's the popular kids in a convertible: Danny, Jacey, and Hunt. Randall is disappointed that Tamra doesn't even remember his name and that his attempt to impress her didn’t go as planned.

Ever and Tamra go off on their way and when they reach school, are instructed by Mr Lorenzo to give up their phones.

Mr Lorenzo isn’t actually a great and responsible teacher and seems to perpetuate the notion that bullying is acceptable. He even passes comments on the fat kid and his need to take a whole seat on the bus for himself.

The bus moves and soon enough Mr Lorenzo and the driver get into a spat to the point that he turns his head and doesn’t see the incoming blood filled balloon.

It goes splat on the windshield and the driver crashes the bus. The kids are recovering from it when a man enters the bus. He behaves like a zombie and straight away attacks Mr Lorenzo, eating part of his cheek and then going for the neck.

The other students scream and try to exit the bus but some are pulled away by the zombie man.

Of course, Ever, Tamra, Randall, Steven, Danny, Jacey and Hunt make it through alive. They are the main characters and we've learned only their names so far. They run about in the woods until they come upon a shack.

They are wondering if it is a zombie apocalypse considering the warning they heard on the bus radio.

They decide to board up the shack to protect themselves when Ever notices one of her classmates running towards them. She immediately breaks through the boards against Danny's wishes. Ever is acting differently because she feels Tamra has joined Jacey's group so she does need to find another friend pronto and the girl she sees coming towards them could be it.

Before the girl can reach, however, she is attacked by the zombie. There goes Ever's chance to make other friends.

Things go worse when the zombie notices them and tries to break through the door. The students manage to protect themselves for a while. Ever finally gets a new partner and friend, Steven. He has an obvious crush on her and so does she.

Jacey and Danny's relationship hits a snag with both of them believing they show concern for each other only when someone else is present.

Turns out the fat guy also survived and has been keeping zombie man number two at bay.

It isn't long before the truth of what is happening is revealed.

UNHUMAN Ending Explained with Spoilers!

Turns out Steven and Randall concocted this whole plan with the help of drug dealers who are pretending to be zombies.

Randall and Steven were tired of being bullied and wanted to teach their bullies a lesson while simultaneously impressing their respective crushes.

They try to pretend that they are doing this also so that the students learn to work together but that seems hardly the case. What the boys didn't expect was for the two men to actually use real drugs and kill people.

They decide they must now kill the other students who may otherwise catch on that something is amiss when they get out of here.

Except for Ever and Tamra of course.

Steven tries to make a move on Ever but she holds herself back.

Ever and Tamra have a falling out which gives Randall a chance to turn her against Ever. Ever is injected with the drug during one of her struggles with the zombies and has black veins popping out of her neck. She has also found out by now the announcement on the radio was actually a cassette being played. She knows they have all been tricked.

Randall tells Tamra to kill Ever because she's infected but Ever manages to convince Tamra that she is still her friend. Tamra doesn’t kill Ever and soon the truth is revealed to them when a mural is accidentally uncovered.

The mural is of Randall leading the fight and protecting everyone with Tamra holding onto his leg and looking up at him with awe.

There's also Steven who has Ever clinging to his back as if he's a hero.

Appalled by the terrible mural, the girls take it upon themselves to take down the zombies, correction, junkies.

The screen is split so that everyone's reactions are captured when the men are taken down. Eventually, they all walk out in slow motion, having gain victory over the junkies.

They get back on the bus and somehow Ever takes the driver's seat because she thinks she is the main character and per rule she is able to manage any vehicle.

In the end, Randall and Steven are seen with the head of PTA who wants to recruit them for teaching some hard love lessons.

The end.

The movie misses out on a lot of opportunities where it could be funny but it isn't.  The last scene seems like a desperate attempt to inject a little wittiness into the movie and leave a possibility for a sequel.

Unfortunately, the story just doesn’t have entertaining enough characters for anyone to be bothered about what happens to them next. The characters are all high school clichés and you barely get to know them enough to sympathize with them.

It's a movie you may want to skip if you are looking to entertain yourself.

Scare Scale: 2.5/5

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
