For the past few days, I've been so upset over reading news stories regarding the Delhi rape victim. What happened to her was terrible and I was hoping that the attackers would be caught soon and she would finally recover and go on with her life.

This was before I learned the horrible details. She was gang-raped by six men who tortured her with a metal rod and then threw her off a moving bus like she was trash. This despicable act was fortunately not hidden and spread over every new channel. The reason I say this is because, it created awareness of a major problem in the society where a raped girl is disgraced and blamed for being attacked which then causes her to remain quiet about the incident and therefore lead to the attacker walking away free.

Is this why they do it? Because they know that a girl wouldn't report to the police for shame that may be brought upon her and her family? The fact that the girl remains quiet or is forced to, results in the attacker to continue committing the same crime over and over again.

Coming back to the Delhi gang-rape case, it was only today that the newspapers reported how brutally the 23 year old girl had been hurt. And as if her pain and injuries weren't enough, apparently the police officers who had come to take her statement, were pressurizing her to alter her statement. Why?

And when the people protested and asked for justice for the girls, they were silenced too. The girl did regain conscious and according to her Mother had told her that she wanted to live. However, a few days later, even though the doctors fought hard to save her life, her health deteriorated and she was transferred to a hospital in Singapore.

Today, it was reported that this brave girl passed away.

I am so saddened by all this. Days after her gang-rape, a few more rape cases were reported and one of the victims was a three and a half year old girl. Three and a half?

It is time that a stand is taken against these heinous crimes. Rapists should be severely punished and made to suffer. The girl suffered for thirteen days, the attackers should be given a punishment that lasts for more. If they are sentenced to death, then they shouldn't just suffer a ten minute ordeal. Rape crimes should be reported and the police should help the victims instead of asking them to hide it.

In one case, a seventeen year old committed suicide because she was asked by the police officer to marry her attacker.

In a few days, the media too will move on to other topics and these rape victims will lose their chance to have their voices heard. For once, I want the Indian Government to do something about this. There should be a new law passed to help curb this crime.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
