Predestination- My take on the movie with spoilers

Predestination is one of those movies that you can’t stop thinking about even after a day you’ve watched the movie. Not that the plot is confusing or that it needs to be over-analyzed to comprehend what the story was all about. It is one of those movies that teaches you and touches your heart and you only find that out the second the end credits roll in.

Predestination cannot be talked about without giving away the ending or a crucial part of the story that leaves you shocked. The only way to even begin writing about this movie is that first and foremost, it’s about a complex character with an unusual backstory. This character is strong yet piteous. The experiences this character faces, breaks your heart and when everything is revealed in a gripping climax, it stuns you and then overwhelms you with emotions.

This movie teaches you an important lesson- at the end of the day, only you can love and depend on yourself- a cruel lesson which is exemplified by the lead character. It was a part of the story that made me think how unforgiving this world can be and how opportunities for betterment is sometimes just ripped away from you in an instant.

The protagonist led a miserable lonely life but there was a silver lining in the beginning- superior intelligence and unmatched strength. But one mistake and that chance is taken away. The protagonist tries to fight for survival and this time finds a chance at love, except that results in abandonment and broken hearts.

The problems for the protagonist don’t end there. Life deals out more blows and the character can do nothing but bow down and accept this harsh fate. It is only as year passes that the protagonist learns that some things are destined and inevitable. Things apparently have to fall in this way for the protagonist to achieve this fate.

The second half of the movie brings in twist after twist before the conclusion which many viewers would already guess…like I did. (I love to gloat).

The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear Sci-fi is time travel and a lot of scientific jargon that is hardly crucial to the story. However Predestination steers far from the cliché of sci-fi time travel movies. It incorporates elements of drama and thrills that is extremely engrossing.

Although Ethan Hawke is the “big” name attached to this movie, I would have to applaud actress Sarah Snook for the acting skills she demonstrates in the movie. In fact, she’s the one that moves you and strings you to the story. If it weren’t for her brilliant acting, this movie could have easily faltered and wouldn’t have connected with the viewers.

This movie is definitely a must-watch. So…watch it!!!

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
