Incident in a Ghostland— My take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: Two sisters and their mother move into a new house for a fresh start. On the first night, a terrible incident occurs.

Books can be amazing companions.
A boring, long journey? Pack a book.
Bored? Read a book.
Lonely? Pick up a book.

Immersing yourself in a different world, even just for a few minutes, is relaxing.

What is even better than reading a book? Writing one.
A vivid imagination and a proclivity to create and write stories is the first step.

Incident in a Ghostland, reminded me how important books are and how the most terrible situation can be endured.

INCIDENT IN A GHOSTLAND Movie Plot

We meet two teenage sisters--Beth and Vera, on the way to live in a new house with their mother.
They are starting a new life and we are immediately shown their contrasting personalities.
Beth has a fondness for writing horror stories, Vera picks on her sister because of that but loves her.
Vera also is a brat and while on the road, shows the finger to a driver on an ice cream truck.
They reach the house and begin to settle in.

Vera confides in her mother about Beth's obsession with disappearing into her stories.
This, as you will find later, is an important part of the story.
Night falls and in a terrifying turn of events, the intruders in the ice cream truck attack the house.
A hefty tall man, resembling an ogre, picks up the girls one by one and sniffs them.
In the next instant, Vera is dragged to the basement and her scream are heard. His aide, who at first looks like a woman turns out to be a man in a wig.

Beth hides and her mother comes to her rescue, slashing at the intruder.
Beth screams and awakens years later as an adult.
We now find Beth is a successful writer because of the book she wrote on the break-in incident. She has a husband and a son and longs to be approved by H. P. Lovecraft.
She receives a call from her sister who tells her that their mother has disappeared.
Beth drops everything to go visit her mother only to find her alive and well. Vera, on the other hand, traumatized by the incident, is tied up in a basement.
Strange events occur and Beth keeps seeing Vera dressed up like a doll and all tied up.
When she sees the ogre again, Beth is attacked and later slapped hard by Vera who asks her to come back.

Incident in a Ghostland Ending Explained

In a heart-wrenching moment, we see that Beth had lost herself in her imagination in which she had escaped the clutches of these demented men.
The truth is, the two girls are very much in danger as the mother, while defending her daughters had not defeated the intruders, but was killed in front of Beth.
The ogre dresses up the girls as dolls in frilly dresses and bright makeup.
He supposedly abused them and thankfully the viewers are spared the details.

The girls try to escape, manage to call the police who arrive but are instantly killed by the madmen.
Fortunately, right before his death, the cop had managed to send a message to the others and finally, the girls are rescued as the intruders are shot and killed.

The ordeal is over, and you wonder if the girls will ever have normal lives again.
It is one of those movies that manages to invoke emotions inside you.
You feel their pain, you sympathize with them, you wish Beth would wake up once more and she is away from that terrible house and living a normal, happy life.

Thoughts about Incident in a Ghostland

The movie is hard to forget and you are relieved that it is a story that ends on a good and just note.

Beth's survival to keep her wits about depended on her losing herself in her imagination. In her imagination, she meets H. P. Lovecraft who approves her writing. That gives her the push to go and face her terrible truth in the real life.

The movie will haunt you.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
