All That is Left– Behind the story.

Some of the most important questions are asked while writing.
Everyday, we face new challenges, new problems, and scurry for solutions.
At that moment we think the problem we are facing is so extreme that no one else must understand what we are going through.
Then we watch the news and are shocked to find how many terrible things are happening around the world. As understanding of this grows, we ask ourselves, what of the news that is not being reported?
Everyday, something terrible is happening and also, everyday someone is having the best day of their lives.
Life is like that and we comfort ourselves with either being ignorant of world issues or praying, as selfish as it sounds, that thankfully it is not happening to us.
These questions and issues cannot be escaped when writing.
You have to ask these questions, you have to imagine being in that situation. And as always, you must ask, what would I do in this situation?

There were a lot of questions I have asked myself while working on All That is Left.

I was writing about different characters with different perspectives to look at life.

There is Misha, who sees the good in everyone, who trusts quickly, and who loves immensely.

There is Aaron, who comes from a broken family. He's lonely, and so is ecstatic when he finds a friend in Misha. He thinks he feels something more until pride gets in the way and his peers steer him in the wrong direction. He thinks he should be dating a popular girl, and cheats on Misha.
Then when she is kidnapped, and he is blamed for breaking her heart, he thinks he should stay with the girl he cheated with.

Then there is Rhea, who comes to college with only one mission: to find those responsible for torturing her. When her paths cross with Aaron, she finds her emotions in disarray which distract her from her mission.
But she can't give up. The ones responsible for her misery is leading happy, respectful lives.

They deserve to pay for what they did to her. And maybe, Aaron, guilt-ridden for his mistake in high school, might just be able to show her the right path.

Kian has an agenda of his own. He helps Rhea in her mission, but then double crosses her. He knows all her secrets and Rhea must find a way to deal with him.

With all the challenges she must face, can Rhea triumph over her enemies?

All That is Left is one of my favorite stories. It has thrills, a hint of romance, and a lot of twists and turns throughout.
