Lupt-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: Haunted by visions, Harsh blames it on stress and takes his family on vacation. Along the way, he encounters something supernatural and wonders if it is related to an incident that occurred two years ago.

Ambition is a wonderful thing. It gives you hope and motivation to go on with your day.
It makes you value yourself more, just knowing you have dreams and working toward them.

Of course, the path to dreams is laden with obstacles.
Even if you are good at something, someone out there may be better than you.
So what does it all come down to? What is that one thing that makes you surpass others and take the number one position?

Lupt (meaning vanish) has an interesting tale about ambition, but it also warns of the repercussions of achieving your dreams.

LUPT Movie Plot

The movie begins with a businessman Harsh, a workaholic who has no time for his family. He has a daughter Tanu, a model who is dating a photographer, and a son called Sam.
When Harsh keeps having visions, he initially blames it on his stress and upon his therapist's advice, decides to go on a road trip with his family.

On the way, they come across a traffic jam caused by an accident, and Harsh decides to take a detour against his wife's wishes.
Since he didn't listen to his wife, of course, he gets lost and now it's night and their car is travelling on a road cut between a forest.
They meet a stranger on the way and ask for directions, but he seems keener on eyeing the daughter.

Sam, jokes about travelling alone at night because they have a body in the trunk they want to dump somewhere. Yes, this becomes an important part of the story.
The stranger is not amused and the family goes about their way.
They don't use Google Maps because I'm assuming their phones go dead like in every horror movie.

Harsh suddenly has another vision and sees a pram in the middle of the road.
He stops and asks his son to push it out of their path. Sam does so but pulls a prank.
He pretends the doll inside is attacking him and falls down.

The family panics and rush to him whereupon Sam wakes up and laughs. Harsh, angered by this delay, slaps him.
Sam follows his family back to the car only to find the pram back on the road. He pushes it away again under his father's glare.
The family continue the drive, and realize they are lost and have to find a place to sleep.

They meet the stranger again who offers them his cottage. They follow him to his house and Sam sees the doll again.
He freaks out but his sister is certain he is still playing a prank.
Miffed, Sam goes out and sees the pram again.

He sees a girl and a woman in a red dress in the forest. He is attacked and barely makes it to the stranger's home.
His family is aghast when he dies. Tanu gets an asthma attack and uses the inhaler.

The family has had enough of their creepy surroundings.
Just like Sam joked, he is placed in the trunk of the car. Now the family really does have a dead body in the trunk.
As they rush out from there, Harsh's wife, too, is attacked by the ghosts who make her believe she is seeing her dead son. She dies in Harsh's arms.

Harsh, his daughter and her boyfriend, keep driving to find a way out of their maze, all of them deep in memories.
After a while, Harsh realizes that he has reached the stranger's home again, where he had found some odd weapons and pictures.
The stranger reveals him to be not a killer but a writer working on proving the paranormal does not exist.

When he sees the dead bodies he wonders if it is related to an accident two years ago wherein a family had perished on that very road.

LUPT Ending Explained with Spoilers!

Harsh, defeated, reveals his sins. Two years ago, he was still struggling to be on top and his competitor was winning awards.
Drunk, he drives down the very road with his colleague. Ahead, the family is making plans to celebrate the daughter's birthday.

Their car is hit and overturns. Harsh has the option of calling the ambulance and saving them but realizes that once his competitor is dead, there will be no competition.
He walks away, even as his colleague keeps screaming at him to help. Eventually, he is left behind as Harsh walks away.

Since the wife was the one who had seen him abandon them, she haunts him and wants him to feel the pain of watching his loved ones die in front of him.

The ghosts reappear and the writer now believes that ghosts exist.
Tanu has another asthmatic attack and the inhaler doesn't work.
She is about to breathe her last when Harsh realizes that with him gone, he wouldn't have to watch his daughter die.

He puts a gun to his head, and Tanu breathes easily once again as the ghosts forgive and find peace.
The writer titles his book Lupt.

This was an interesting movie with an intriguing story.
However, the beginning could have been better. The introduction of the characters is a bit haphazard and the scenes don't connect with each other seamlessly.

Apart from that, the story flowed naturally in the second half.

A good movie with some good scares.

Scare scale: 3.5/5
