Ghost in the Graveyard-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Sally returns to town following the death of her friend during a game of GHOST IN THE GRAVEYARD, she can't imagine why everyone in town is keen on protecting her.

Every time I see kids in movies playing in the woods, that too after the sun has gone down, I wonder where their parents are.
Do the parents know that their kids are playing hide and seek in the graveyard where sometimes fresh graves are dug and left out open for them to fall in?

GHOST IN THE GRAVEYARD Movie Plot

In Ghost in the Graveyard, the parents simply don’t care what their daughters are up to. Considering what we learn later in the movie, at least Sally’s father should have been more attentive.

Because guess what happens when a group of little girls play in the Graveyard?
Very aptly, they are playing Ghost in the Graveyard, a game somewhat like hide and seek but played in the Graveyard.

So of course, there are weird, lanky people lurking in the shadows because it’s a creepy Graveyard. And of course, a mishap occurs causing the death of Martha, one of the friends.

Years later, Sally returns to town, much to the curiosity of her high school classmates who wonder where she had gone. Some suspect she was in an asylum, others think she must have been pregnant and that is why she was gone for nine months.

Sally’s father seems even more protective of her but allows her to be a kid and have fun with her new boyfriend. Now Sally’s nemesis Zoe also has a crush on the guy but makes an effort to befriend Sally.

Meanwhile, another group of kids, this time boys, are playing in the graveyard. One of them is given a dare to ride through and sure enough, he encounters the ghost of Martha.

He stumbled and falls off his bike. The next instant he is killed. The police later find his remains near a tomb and suspect something fishy. Sally is there to pay her respects to Martha and the police decide it is better to keep an eye on her.

Not because she’s a suspect, but because she’s in danger?

Why? Why Sally, who has a baby at home? The girl who keeps mumbling “whatever” and “this is insane” to seem like a teenager?

But the laughable portrayal of a protective father comes from the actor who plays Sally’s father. He might as well say “It’s showtime” as he cocks his gun. Or the way he overacts through the whole scene where he has to explain to his son why they need to protect Sally.

GHOST IN THE GRAVEYARD Ending Explained with Spoilers

Coming back to why Sally is so important to the point Zoe’s mother wants a lock of her hair, well, she’s actually a descendant of the Virgin Mary. The witches are hell-bent on killing her because somehow that will start the apocalypse. According to her father, the witches’ have the hand of the devil on their shoulders.

Sally must be protected at all costs. However, her new friend Zoe gets jealous of her affection for her crush and attacks her.

Sally lands in the hospital not soon after and the town officials do a terrible job protecting her because in the next instant she leaps out the window and heads off to save her father.

Yes, the father who makes a big deal about protecting her and stuff, but who gets captured by the witches within two seconds of reaching the graveyard.

It’s up to Sally to save the day and the world, and that she barely accomplishes. The cop, her father’s friend, arrives just in time to kill the witches.

Sally is attacked by Zoe who is possessed by something evil. Martha appears, distracting Zoe, and Sally finds an opportunity to stab her.

In the end, Sally narrates how she is waiting to understand her destiny.

The movie had an interesting twist but the subpar acting dampens the spirit of the movie.

A lot of questions are left unexplained, mostly about the baby and the relation to Sally. Or why was Martha suddenly helping Sally when she was wrongfully killed. Apparently, Martha was killed in Sally’s place, still, she understands Sally and tries to protect her.

And the boy who died, was Martha behind his death or the witches?

The movie is an okay one-time watch.

  1. Thank you for the spoilers! It saved me a LOT of time. I saw the spoiler and I assumed that it was a clear and cut case of "the witches killed everyone while the deranged psychopath is hiding in the graveyard" kind of thing. I would have never expected such a LAME argument as her being a descendant of virgin Mary. That is SO absurd I never thought of it.

Seems to me that this screen writer tried to cash in some twist of the Da vinci code remastered. haha lame attempt, worse development. it is as if the da vinci code married the blair witch (both of which I did watch and wasted my entire time)....

    1. Fairly certain the baby was her brothers.

    2. It clarifies that pretty early in the movie when Zoe shows up and takes the baby from the crib. It’s Billy’s baby, her niece not her daughter.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
