The Shasta Triangle-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When her father disappears from a spot in the forest known as THE SHASTA TRIANGLE, Paula decides to find him with the help of her friends.

Over the years, a lot of people aboard planes and ships have been thought to disappear at the Bermuda Triangle.
Since no remains are ever found, the disappearances have been attributed to paranormal activity, and yes, even alien abduction.

Offer this explanation to a scientist and they will do whatever it takes to debunk it. Human error or bad weather caused the planes and ships to disappear, they will tell you.

But again, this is only a theory. What is the actual proof that aliens have indeed not set up an area on the globe from where they suck out people?

Then again, there would have been proof of that as well. Maybe a spaceship sighting?

Anyway, the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle would be solved someday with actual facts, but in the meantime, this all has become fodder for sci-fi filmmakers.

THE SHASTA TRIANGLE Movie Plot

The Shasta Triangle is an area in the forest of Shasta Town, California. A long time ago, a scientist disappeared, leaving behind a notebook for his daughter as clues.

The daughter, Paula grows up and decides to solve the mystery behind her father’s disappearance once and for all. She has managed to decipher some of the notes in her father’s notebook but doesn’t believe in the phenomenon that eerie things happen in the forest.

She wants to find out for sure if what the townsfolk say about abnormal sightings and sounds are true. Along with a friend, she wants to venture out into the forest where she remembers seeing her father last.

But before they can begin, they are joined by three other women, Paula’s childhood friends, all claiming to want to join in on the adventure. One of them, Alicia, is a vlogger who wants a good story to film and put on her blog. She even offers Paula money so she stays.

Reluctantly, Paula agrees to take her friends to the spot where she saw her father last.

Paula marks an area with four boards in the circle based on Greek characters as per the notebook.

At first, everyone is a bit sceptical regarding the Shasta Triangle, but soon realize they are caught in this bizarre area when they all attempt to leave the circle but end up returning to it.

Soon enough, a loud trumpeting noise and magnetic blue waves suck away one of the women.

With their ears bleeding, the women now realize they should have just stayed at home.

When the same strange happening recurs but the woman returns, the women realize that beyond the circle lies another dimension.

Alicia produces a similar notebook as Paula’s father and claims to have received it while she was investigating.

Paula compares the notebooks and sees that it has the same writings on it but in different ink.

The women are once again subjected to the strange occurrence and this time pushed into a dimension where their evil counterparts want to shoot them. They are all dressed in matching black costumes and sport stylish haircuts.

Just before they are shot, they are brought back to the forest. Alicia comes with a theory that seems to glue this all together.

THE SHASTA TRIANGLE Ending Explained with Spoilers!

She explains Paula is the one not from this dimension. When she fell off the bike as a kid, she wasn’t in the circle and therefore sucked into the other dimension. It isn’t her father who is lost but her.

Paula realizes this may be true because the forest isn’t the same as the one in her childhood memory.

But the problem is, they can’t figure out which direction to send her back in. Also, it was rather weird for Alicia to say that they weren’t Paula’s real friends as she was from another dimension.

Didn’t they grow up together after she was stuck in this dimension? She managed and retained the friendship for years, so of course, these are her true friends.

Anyway, Alicia wants to do more dimension-hopping so volunteers to go the other direction to find Paula’s world.
Unfortunately, she ends up in the evil dimension and is shot on the head, and returned.

There is only one place left for Paula to go, but as she turns to it, a static figure in a white cloak appears and points in the other direction.

Paula enters that world and encounters a Jeep. Her father from two dimensions are in it, as well as another version of her who was the woman in the white cloak harassing the townsfolk.

They were all waiting for her and were using booming sounds to drive away the evil people from the other dimension.

In the other dimension, the friends are finally able to walk back to their cars, leaving behind Alicia’s corpse.

Some friendship there.

The movie was actually pretty interesting and had a decent concept. It does however falter in its explanation of the proceedings.

Was her father hopping from one dimension to another looking for her? In the dimension where she didn’t belong, where was that father? And Paula number two?

What happened to the woman who disappeared before? Was anyone going to try to look for her? Everyone only seems to want to look and help Paula.

How did the friends manage to walk away from the Triangle in the end?

There should have been a proper explanation to tie up loose ends.

Apart from that, it is a decent watch. More of a sci-fi thriller than horror.

Scare scale: 2.5/5
