Deep Blue Sea 3-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Dr Emma Collins is recruited by her former classmate to chase down bull sharks, little does she know that she isn't dealing with ordinary bull sharks.

The first thing when you think about sharks is their fin, usually showing out of the water in pretty much every movie you’ve seen. The next is the numerous teeth they have.

In Deep Blue Sea 3, you will see the shark but you’ll find it sharing the screen with the protagonist who sports a bikini in every shot. In fact, the camera slowly moves over her while the poor sharks are given very brief shots of their close-ups.

DEEP BLUE SEA 3 Movie Plot

The story is about Dr Emma Collins who is a scientist working in Little Happy, a tiny village in the middle of nowhere but one that has a fish nursery as well.
She works with her late father’s colleague Shaw, Miya, Spinnaker, and is friends with the only two locals left behind in the village Bahari and Nandi. Due to climate change and rising sea levels, Little Happy has become almost inhabitable for the villagers but these two remain, probably because they can get in all the shark action.

Dr Emma is reckless and keeps telling Shaw not to lecture her because she doesn’t need a father figure anymore. When she and Shaw go scuba diving to check on the fishes, she boasts about being friends with a great white shark, named Sally.

Sally however doesn’t consider Emma as a friend and shoves her against a rock. Sheepish, Emma tells Shaw that Sally didn’t mean it and was only showing her who is boss of the sea.
Shaw doesn’t believe her.
Miya and Spinnaker detect a ship on their radar and inform Emma who heads out to see a ship called Thasos coming up to their little village.

A man disembarks and Emma recognizes him as Richie, the guy she knew from college.
Miya and Spinnaker make awkward jokes about them being a couple.
Richie informs Emma that he’s chasing three bull sharks who attacked some people in a nearby river. He makes up some theory about how the bull sharks are capable of hurting Great white sharks because they adapted quickly to climate control.

Emma doesn’t believe him but goes diving with him anyway. She finds two great white sharks half-eaten at the bottom of the sea. One of Richie’s men gets eaten by a bull shark.

Richie and all the guys he’s with all look like they’ve spent more time in the gym than studying marine life.

Richie gets attacked by a bull shark who puts him in his mouth but doesn’t go ahead and chew. He’s probably tasting and pondering on whether she should chomp him down.
Emma comes to his rescue and sedates the shark.

When they surface, Richie along with his colleague Lucas tell Emma what is actually going on, and that is that they aren’t dealing with regular bull sharks but genetically altered ones. They’ve been part of an experiment and Richie has been luring the bull sharks using a beacon that mimics the sharks’ mother Bella’s call. They’ve already caught one bull shark and want to capture the other two.

Emma isn’t too happy being lied to.

In the meantime, Bahari wants to do some fishing. He doesn’t care that there are sharks in the vicinity. Who cares when there’s fish to catch and eat?

Of course, he’s attacked by a shark immediately. The empty boat is pulled to the docks and Nandi pulls the net to find Bahari didn’t leave behind her any fish but did leave her his arm. The sharks seem to relish every body part except for arms.

Emma pinches Richie for lying to her about everything and losing someone she cared about. No tears are shed for Bahari.

Lucas and Richie get into a disagreement over the handling of a mission. The ship is attacked by sharks who keep knocking on their windows, hoping they will open and they will get their next meal.

Richie heads up and aims a weapon at them and warns them against attacking them. The sharks turn away immediately. Emma realizes the sharks are learning too quickly.

Lucas sends his men underwater with a box. Shaw has a drone follow them and sees on the TV that the men are installing a mine to blow up the nursery.

Lucas reveals Richie isn’t the real leader f the mission. His instructions were to destroy all evidence of the experiment, including the sharks.

When Emma finds out about the mines she confronts Richie who of course has no idea about anything. He stops Emma from attacking Lucas. On the ship, Lucas decides he wants to be done with the mission and go back home. He orders his men to start blowing up the Village.

Richie decides he’s going to help Emma instead, an idea detested by the sharks who scarf him down as soon as he takes a dive into the water.

Emma isn’t too broken-hearted about his demise. She makes a dive to disable the mine. She is attacked by the mercenaries but Sally intervenes because only she can bully Emma. In the process, Emma is saved.

DEEP BLUE SEA 3 Ending Explained with spoilers!

But above, in the Village, Lucas wants to show off his melee skills and provokes Shaw by calling him old. Shaw plays along; he knows he is too old for this thing.
He’s kicked and punched immediately but manages to gain some ground.

Spinnaker professes his love for Miya but the sharks hate his idea of him going on a date with Miya and immediately gobbles him. Miya sobs but the shark is still roaming around wondering if he can eat a bit more.

Lucas is still attacking the village and Shaw and the restaurant where Miya is hiding collapses. Shaw sees the shark swim away, leaving behind a trail of blood.

Emma surfaces and is saddened to learn Spinnaker and Miya are no more. Lucas heads to his ship and Shaw asks Emma what she did with the mine. It’s no surprise what she did.

Lucas detonates the bomb and the ship blasts and sinks.

Shaw is glad it is all over but Emma wants a little more screen time and a new outfit to put on, this time a white one-piece. But she tells Shaw that she’s extending the movie time because she wants to kill the bull sharks. She could have done that before on her previous encounters but that time she wanted to save the sharks to come off as a caring person.

Now she wants to blow up the sharks. Shaw is tired of being in Emma’s shadow and decides to be the one who blows up the sharks. He makes the ultimate sacrifice and detonates bombs but a shark still survives somehow.

Emma uses a tunnel lift to trap the shark and lowers it when the shark comes to her. He gets crushed when she pushes on the button and explodes on her face. Emma has her first taste of shark meat.

Later, Nandi and she leave the island on a boat. They find a floating cupboard and open it to find Miya hiding inside with a knife.

Emma is happy to see her and hugs her. Nandi is left to navigate the boat, hoping Miya and Emma will let her on in her friend circle.

The movie had some thrilling moments and is enjoyable, but some of the shark attack sequences tend to be more comical.

An interesting watch.

Scare scale: 3.5/5

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
