The Haunting of Hill House: Episode Ten

Secrets rarely stay buried for long. Everyone has something they want to hide from the world, and sooner or later, it comes out, sometimes at the worst possible time.
While the reveal of some secrets can feel liberating, most of the times, it is devastating to have it being revealed to near and dear ones.

Adult Steven and Hugh arrive at Hill House to find Luke unconscious. Before they can do anything, Steven is shown a nightmarish vision of his wife. He awakens to find Theo and Shirley in the red room with him.

Hugh was right, the siblings were a meal to the house who wanted to finish it. The siblings are forced to confront their deceits and we see why Shirley is haunted by a man raising a glass at her.
She had met him during a conference some time ago and had cheated on her husband with him.

Luke dreams about being in a room where his mother, young Nell and Abigail are there. Olivia tries to get him to stay but Nell advises him to leave.

He awakens, gasping for breath just as the siblings are giving up on reviving him and escaping the room.

Nell appears to them and tells them how happy she feels to have been loved by them and that they too love each other.

It is revealed that the red room isn’t actually a room. It was an illusionary room for all the siblings who spent time in the one-room where they could explore their dreams and hobbies.

Even though they couldn’t open the door, the truth was that each of them had already been inside when they were kids and thus the house craved their return.

Nell leaves and Hugh has to confront Olivia on letting the children go.

In a flashback, it is revealed that when Abigail died and the Dudleys came over, they begged Hugh to let the house stay. The house’s main power was that it was a haven for spirits. Abigail’s spirit comes to them and Mrs Dudley pleads with Hugh to reveal nothing about the house go, anyone, because in this way, they will continue to see their daughter every day, just as she was.

Olivia tells Hugh she wants the same for her kids. She wants them to stay with her forever. Hugh makes a deal with her to let them go but that he would stay with her forever.

The door opens and the siblings take Luke outside. Steven realizes he is speaking to Hugh’s ghost who isn’t unhappy. He gets to live with his wife and daughter forever at Hill House.

Steven leaves the house, and behind him, all the spirits in the house gather.

Two years later, the siblings are together and happy. Luke is finally sober and everyone’s life is back on track.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
