Fear of Rain-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A girl with schizophrenia, suspects her neighbour of kidnapping a girl. Of course, no one believes her.

Your mind can be your worst enemy, the one that creates chaos in your little world. There are several sayings pertaining to how anger, jealousy, hate is posion that we've created for ourselves and needs to be replaced with positive thoughts.

Sometimes though, that isn't possible.

Mental disorders can cause havoc with your daily life. The one thing we take for granted, our sanity, can betray us at the worst possible moment.

Perhaps this is what happened to Rain in Fear of Rain. Yeah, the title sounds like it might be a description of the events in a movie, like a terrible happening in the rain.

But nope.

It's about a girl called Rain and the movie is about what she fears. In this case, it is actually the rain. And yes, her next-door neighbour, Ms McConnell. Is it because of her get up, fashion sense or the hundreds of dolls she keeps in her attic? One thing is for sure, Rain screams every time she sees the haggard woman.

FEAR OF RAIN Movie Plot

The movie begins with Rain running through the graveyard as an unknown figure chases her. In the next scene, she is in the hospital, and for a few seconds, we assume she has been attacked and injured. Her parents are there too and her mother, Michelle, is worried sick while her husband John is speaking to the doctor.

We learn later that Rain has suffered a schizophrenic episode and thrashed her own room as well as injured herself.

Rain returns home sees the state of the room and decides she doesn't want to clean it and takes up the bed in the guest room. The father is left to clean and repair the room.

When Rain returns to school all of her friends avoid her and refuse to sit with them during lunch. She keeps hearing voices and there's weird scribbling on the bottom of the screen that's supposed to be Rain's incoherent writing. It's worse than what people consider to be a doctor's handwriting.

More than once, Rain gets to hear that "we don't want to catch crazy from you." But she takes it in her stride and goes about her day with a sullen expression.

A boy comes up to her with a lame card magic trick and she isn't grateful that someone is speaking to her but behaves bratty. He manages to lighten her mood and finds out that his name is Caleb.

She returns home, broods some more, has a couple of nightmares before seeing a face in the neighbour's attic window. Rain thinks it's a little girl screaming for help but of course, no one believes her because she's a schizophrenic.

But Rain knows with absolute certainty that the girl is real. Her psychiatrist also doesn't believe her but that's okay, a boy she just met a few seconds ago trusts her and that's enough for her to break into her neighbour's house later in the movie.

Michelle tries to be supportive of her daughter, even letting her explore her artistic talents by posing for her and Rain lets on that she wants to get into art school. Her mother says, why not. That's enough encouragement for Rain to start wearing ragged clothes so that she looks like a starving artist.

At school, there's more "we don't want to sit with the crazy girl", more of Caleb flirting with a mentally disturbed girl and making sure she cuts her classes. When she is found out, her father tells her that her supposed boyfriend is just a figment of her imagination.
He doesn't want to verify that information. He distrusts his daughter who destroyed her room and then left it to him to paint it and hang origami from it.

Rain doesn't care if she will be thrown into the institution if anyone complains of her behaving abnormally. She thinks the neighbour kidnapped a girl and enlists Caleb's help whether he is real or not.

Of course, they find the girls picture online and Rain knows she's not crazy and wants to break into the house even though her neighbour took her upstairs and showed her the creepy dolls and mannequins.

Fear of Rain Ending Explained with spoilers!

Rain is found out, Caleb runs away like the amazing boyfriend he is and John slaps Rain so that she would get it that she isn't lovable or a great detective.

Rain begins to doubt herself and starts ignoring Caleb. He comes to her house and states he was scared and that's why he ran away. She makes out with him just as Michelle descends the stairs. Rain introduces her to Caleb who looks at her like she's gone nuts.

It's no surprise as to what is exactly happening here. After all, Michelle has been wearing the exact same dress plenty of times. And Caleb's expression confirms it.

Michelle died three years ago but has been living in Rain's imagination. Rain is devastated but then dreams about her mother blaming her for causing her to commit suicide.

Rain awakens and decides she would break into the neighbour's house again. She does, calls Caleb too who arrives late. Rain finds the little girl in a cage but is then found out by McConnell who is about to attack her when Caleb comes up behind her. They fight while Rain runs out with the girl.

John too comes out and exclaims his daughter was right about the girl and then about Caleb too. He's relieved his daughter has a boyfriend she was making out with.

Caleb is taken to the hospital but before that, she gets enough time to speak and flirt with Rain. For some reason, EMTs don't mind waiting.

Later, Rain visits Michelle's grave and when his father asks her if she still sees her mother, she tells him no.

Of course, she's lying. She lies in her bed and Michelle puts an arm around her. Whether it is her ghost or something inside Rain doesn't want her to get cured.

Either way, the movie finally ends and so does Rain's fear.

  9. I watched this movie and I think you’re taking it way out of context. You said that rain didn’t feel like cleaning her room when in that scene her father offered her to clean it and hugged her and said it was okay.

  10. I too think you took a lot of things out of context and that's not fair to the movie or anyone watching it. If you're going to tell the plot and your own twist, at least be accurate about the movie while stating your opinion

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
