Son--My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When her son contracts a mysterious illness, Laura will go to any length to save him, even confront her own dangerous past.

For a change, the kid in this horror movie is a boy. Yes, no little girls being possessed and being exorcised. No girls talking to ghost and demons only she can see.

SON Movie Plot

This time we get to meet Laura, a woman on the run who delivers a baby in the car while praying that she doesn't want him. But the baby comes anyway.

Cut to some time later, Laura is a mother to a boy called David who is concerned about what anyone would do if they had octopus arms. Laura is confounded and it takes her the drive to David's school to decide she would not tuck in her arms but let it out of her T-shirt so she would look like a spider mom. David is impressed with her answer and awards her the title of being cool.

Later that night, Laura is working on the laptop when she hears a noise and thinks it is David cowering in the dark because of a nightmare. She invites him in and when he doesn't come in, she goes out and sees no one outside. She heads to her son's room and opens the door to see a crowd of people inside. She freaks out and before she can do anything else, the door slams shut and of course, she can't get it open.

She runs out and goes to her neighbour, Susan, and tells her to call the police. Laura does not have a phone in her house. Or a cell phone. Her first instinct when she sensed trouble was to introduce the audience to her neighbour.

The police arrive and of course, they don't find anything. Detective Steve doesn't believe a word Laura is saying because they can't find any evidence of a break-in. Detective Paul rolls his eyes at his partner because Steve clearly can't get that Paul is trying to flirt with Laura.

He sends Steve away while Laura maintains she wasn't sleepwalking and someone was clearly in her house.

Laura finds her son naked on the bed and David tells her that sometimes he feels too hot and removes his pyjamas for fun. He then tells her he isn't feeling well.

Laura sleeps with her son in the same bed and is haunted by nightmares and a banner that announces that "he is coming". She wakes up, sees David screaming with blood on his face and wakes up again. Turns out her waking up the same way was a dream.

But what happens to David afterwards is no short of a nightmare. He keeps complaining that he is unwell and that his stomach hurts.

Paul comes for a visit the next night when Laura sees shadows of people outside her kitchen door. Again Paul hasn't found anything. Laura asks Paul to stay and when he refuses, she starts kissing him, the easiest way to get him to stay. It is while she is seducing him that she feels a bandage around his arm. He explains a junkie got him but now since this information was given to us out of nowhere, that means it so relevant to the story and part of a twist.

David decides to come to spoil the mood and vomits blood all over the floor. Laura rushes David to the hospital and the doctors immediately tell her they have no idea what is wrong with her son.

Laura drags Paul everywhere with her except when she goes to sleep in her son's room. The doctors have already told her to prepare for the worst. She has and goes to sleep in David's room only to wake up and find the door to the ward closing, a hint that someone was in there.

There is blood all over David's face and he keeps coughing out more. But he's finally awake and the doctors inform Laura that her son has miraculously recovered. David is already singing and playing around, forgetting he's at the hospital and that he was vomiting blood some days ago.

Laura takes David home and later meets up with Paul at a diner. The adults finish their meals and are already breaking open fortune cookies. Laura seems to give an obligatory statement to David telling him he hasn't eaten anything and needs to take two bites at least.

Laura was too busy gobbling up her meal and flirting with Paul to notice that her son wasn't eating before.

They return home and David falls sick again. He's taken to the hospital again where doctors didn't seem to pick up on the facts Laura was giving them about her son. The doctors shrug and pretty much suggest they are incompetent. No one can understand the marks on David's body.

Hesitating, Laura finally tells Paul that she escaped from a cult and now they are after her son. Paul doesn't react much and Laura goes to cry in David's room again. She didn't think to tell Paul before, days ago ever since the first incident at her house. Nope. She tells him afterwards about her history.

Steve, who hates Laura, doesn't dig up her history until much later too.

Later, Laura hears the doctors and nurses discussing how they would take the boy once Laura is off to sleep. Had they been keeping a vigilant eye they would have noticed that Laura is sleeping most of the time.

Laura knows with absolute certainty they are talking about her and David, and picks up her son and rushes out of the hospital.

Then she goes straight to Susan's house and tells her she needs to leave town and of she could keep an eye on David while she got her stuff from the house. Susan wants Laura to take her son back to the hospital and then gives a lame threat about taking him back herself. Laura tells her she knows she wouldn't and Susan agrees that she wouldn't.

While Laura is gathering her stuff, David is already asking Susan to come closer to him so he can chomp at her guts. Laura arrives and is horrified to discover her son is a cannibal. David immediately recovers from his mysterious ailment.

Laura covers up her friend even as Paul keeps calling her. She throws the phone out of her car and drives to an inn. There she sees a pimp, mistreating his women. Her son is sick and hungry again and she now knows what will make him better: human flesh.

She seduces the pimp into coming into her room and then has her son eat him up.

But the bodies are piling up and someone keeps drawing symbols and writing he is coming. Steve thinks Laura is cracked because she suffered childhood trauma at the hands of her father who is supposedly also David's father.

Paul is too eager to save Laura but has to abide by his duty as a cop too. When they find the pimp's body, Steve says he has to take extreme measures. Paul regretfully agrees but refuses to partake in the operation.
Meanwhile, Laura leaves the inn when she sees the news piece about her and David. Fortunately, right outside the inn, she finds a for sale sign on a car. Laura buys it and travels back to her hometown where the cult was situated. She goes to see Jimmy and ask him exactly what happened to her.

He states she was special in the sense that she was the only once capable of summoning the demon from hell and that it was the demon who raped her and not her father. Laura can't believe it. She remembers being in a cult but not what happened to her.

She understands what must be done and drives away again. But Jimmy is killed and Steve decides to go ahead and get Laura before she kills more people.

SON Ending Explained with Spoilers!

While in her room, Laura hears more sounds and assumes the people who are about to enter are the ones from her cult. She starts shooting in the dark and it turns out, Laura didn't only meet with incompetent doctors before but also incompetent cops. She takes down all three immediately, one of them being Steve.

She calls Paul and apologizes for Steve's death and tells him she now knows how to deal with her problem. Paul is frustrated when she keeps down the phone without telling him where she is.

Laura takes David to a house and summons the demon to come to save her son or else she would kill him. She has a knife poised over David who is too weak from hunger to do anything about it. The demon appears as a blur behind her and before we can check out if the budget for effects is good or not, Paul comes over and tells Laura to step back and that she is crazy.
The demon vanishes and Laura tells Paul it is better David dies rather than he becomes a demon himself. Paul doesn't believe her and Laura is about to stab her son when Paul shoots her right in the face.
David cries for his mommy but doesn't seem too brokenhearted because she was after all going to kill him.

At the hospital, Paul tells David he is safe now. Then he rolls up his sleeve and cuts his arm and gives David a piece of his flesh to eat. Turns out Paul is part of the cult too and has been feeding David from the same spot on his arm. He was the one who killed Jimmy too and framed Laura.

After David has had his fill, the demon comes for a visit and David immediately hugs him and calls him daddy. The demon has human hands and nails. David has already forgotten his mommy.

The movie has some genuinely scary parts and has some interesting thrilling parts.

A must watch for horror movie fans

Scare Scale: 3.5/5

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
