The Power-- Movie Ending Spoilers!

Plot Summary: In 1974 a nurse joins a hospital and works the night shift. She soon uncovers a terrible secret within the walls of the hospital.

Power is everything. It is the most important thing to us. After all, how do we expect to charge our phones, watch TV and switch on the AC when it's summer. Or simply to turn on the light when it so dark.

Of course, power is also strength and authority. Imagine having the power to do whatever you want.

Now while we take electricity for granted nowadays, in 1973 people played around with the power to switch off electricity as a form of protest.

THE POWER Movie Plot

When Val comes to join a hospital as a nurse, she must not only deal with the lack of electricity in the hospital, but also a stern matron and a couple of ghosts.

The one rule she is told to abide by is to never talk to doctors, a rule she breaks on the first day by talking to Dr Franklyn and impressing him with her ability to bond with an immigrant child Saba.

The matron punishes her by putting her in the night shift and Val is subjected to a little bullying by the other nurses.

Another nurse called Babs immediately points out not to start daydreaming about the doctor as he is sweet on her.

Val doesn't care about the Henry Cavill lookalike doctor. She is more bothered about the strange going ons.

When she is sent to get some medical files from downstairs and has to navigate in the dark with a lone lamp, she meets Neville in the basement who is a creepy fellow.

When she returns and Babs gives her a hard time again, Neville comes and whispers something to Babs after which she stands on the desk and begins swaying.

Neville whispers to Val that he has shown Babs her place.

Val isn't too pleased with the humiliation and offers tea to Babs who continues to say wicked things to her.

Val is sent all around the hospital in the dark as punishment and it is in the basement that she finds a burnt stuffed toy dog. Then someone tries to pull up her skirt.

The next second, her arm is pulled and twisted behind her and she is pinned to the wall.

There is a flash of images wherein Babs is attacked from behind and Neville is burned.

When Val awakens, she can't recollect what has happened. Saba keeps looking at her like a scared little mouse.

The Power Ending Explained with Spoilers

Val resumes work but suffers from fits which prompt the other nurses to tell her to stay away from Saba as she is scaring her.

But Saba doesn't and tells Val about another patient who was called Dirty Gail. The other nurses prefer to stay mum about it.

Babs suddenly comes and is apparently blinded. She accuses Val who doesn't remember anything.

When they search the basement they find Neville's remains.

Val sees the ghost of a girl and presses a nurse to tell her about Gail.

She mentions a puppy toy and Val remembers seeing the stuffed toy. She believes Gail was sexually assaulted by Neville and that was what the ghost has been showing her.

She is wrong.

Here the movie changes its definition of the title. It is no longer about Power that is electricity.

It becomes power which is authority.

Val learns the identity of Gail's assaulter through Saba's drawings. She erases some of it and sees a man with glasses.

And since there is only one doctor that wears glasses in the hospital, and the only one we were introduced to, we learn it is none other than Dr Franklyn who was supposed to be a nice guy.

Val is shocked and confronts him and he reveals his true colours but maintains that since he has the power here, Val cannot do anything.

Val is unable to do anything so Gail comes back from the dead to finish the job.

Which begs the question, why try to tell Val about what happened to her? Just because Val was abused by her headmaster and she wanted to sympathize with her?

In the end, if Gail is the one who gets her revenge, why bring Val into the mix?

Nevertheless, the movie had some intense, thrilling moments, and the story was interesting.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
