Creepy Urban Legends: The Human Faced Dog (Jinmenken)
Dogs are wonderful animals that make amazing pets. They are known for their loyalty and friendships and if you adopt them, they will stay by your side no matter what.
When you think about horror stories and dogs, your first thought might be Cujo, a story by Stephen King that was adapted into a movie. Fun fact: the author barely remembered writing that one but wished he had.
Anyway, according to a Japanese Urban Legend, a Jinmenken is no ordinary dog; it has a human face.
There are plenty of theories as to why the dog can not only run fast but also has a human face. That's right. The Jinmenken has the body of a dog for sure but has a head of a human complete with a set of human teeth.
You wouldn't want to encounter one in the dark, now would you?
The Jinmenken was thought to be a scientific experiment gone wrong which would explain why it has the head of a human and a body of a dog. Another theory states that the Jinmenken is a ghost of a man who died on a highway. Apparently, he was walking his dog at the same time who also died. The ghost is supposed to be an amalgamation of both.
The Jinmenken likes to be left alone and will even tell you so. It has a human head, remember?
The Jinmenken can be seen rummaging through trash and likes to wander about in dark alleys.
There have been reported sightings of this legendary creature even today.
Here's a story based on the legend of the Jinmenken:
