Creepy Urban Legends: Queen of Spades

We've heard of the Bloody Mary tale, right? The game where we stand in front of a bathroom mirror and say Bloody Mary three times and then have a ghost pop out at us from the mirror?

Candyman has somewhat the same rules?

The Midnight Man too in some ways. All of these games have to be played in the dark with the hopes of summoning a ghost that will grant a wish.

Well, here's another game to summon a ghost that will haunt and possibly kill you.

Why play these games?

Because teens find it fun and filmmakers get another theme for their movie.

A little backstory about the Queen of Spades. According to legend, she always wore black. Was she a widow? There's no confirmation about that.

Anyway, this woman in black comes to the village and all men go crazy for her because she's extremely beautiful. The women grow jealous of this woman and plot to have her killed. They accuse her of being a witch, the head of the village goes along with the plan and the woman in black is beaten up in her home and has her face disfigured. All of this happens in front of the mirror.

The Queen of Spades was still alive and for three days called for help. But none came. Finally, she succumbed to her injuries and died but not before she cursed the whole village.

The only way to end the curse was to summon her and since she was a lost soul, legend has it, that one has to use lipstick to draw a diagram of a door and stairs that will help the woman navigate herself into our world.

Now, allegedly, she was summoned but the plan to ask for forgiveness didn't go as planned and the woman, dubbed as the Queen of Spades, killed the very people who took her life.

That is one version of the story.

The other version is that woman who wore all black, ran an orphanage but rather than take care of the kids, killed them and ate them. No one in the town knew what a psycho she was until one day they did. They dragged her out into the streets and killed her. For some reason, years later, people still called upon her, believing her of granting wishes. Of course, if the ritual isn't performed well, the Queen of Spades will then attack and kill the summoner.

So yes, the first version makes more sense but there are a lot of stories out there and perhaps one of them must be true.

In any case, it is better to simply stay away from such games and instead watch a movie. Or how about a good old fashioned board game?

  1. Umm... So I've been thinking of playing the queen of spades but maybe it's better off living without possibly being killed! Thank you so much for sharing this information with us all! It's saving 3 lives now! I think more than 3 lives! Maybe a 100! So again thank you for sharing this information with us all!🥰🥰

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
