Till Death-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After learning of her affair, Emma's husband comes up with a sick revenge plot.

Marriages are made in heaven. There's someone made for everyone. Always marry your soulmate. Marriage is forever.

How many times have we heard all these sayings? These phrases are usually wrapped neatly in a conversation we have with elders who want everyone to believe that marriages are the ultimate goals in everyone's life and if they are not, then they should be.

As kids, we've read those fairytales where after a lot of biting on poisonous apples, leaving glass slippers behind, and signing off your voice to a sea urchin, the happy ending isn't only about defeating evil but marrying prince charming.

It's not even a long engagement with these princesses. Nope. In the last scene, the princess marries her prince.

What happens then?

There have been sequels to these classics where the prince and princess have kids and have become wise almost immediately after and manage every task perfectly, even a new threat to their kingdom.

But does real life really work like that?

A look at the divorce rates will show not everyone gets a fairytale ending.

Marriage, which used to mean 'Till death do we part' has become 'Until the day we lose interest' or 'Until someone better comes along'.

In a way, the movie Till Death keeps its promise about parting only when one of them dies. But what leads to the death, and the situations after that is a reminder of how true and loyal you should stay in a marriage. And of course, always make sure the person you are getting married to isn't a psycho.

TILL DEATH Movie Plot

When the movie begins, Emma is heading out to meet her husband at a restaurant. She is thinking about the man she just left, the guy she's having an affair with and has broken up with him.

She gets on the elevator with her husband who is obviously distant. The doors open and in walks her boyfriend who works at her husband's office. They pretend not to know each other but her husband's expression shows that he has a hunch about what is going on.

Emma keeps a stoic silence but she is clearly feeling disrespected and cold towards the two men and almost walks out on the wrong floor.

When she and her husband go to the restaurant to celebrate their anniversary, there is clearly some tension between them especially when they exchange gifts. Her husband gifts her a necklace that he immediately puts around her neck while she has gifted him tickets to a game that he doesn't care for because the team isn't playing well. Emma feels insulted by the way he just casually pushes away her gift that eventually goes to the waitress when they leave.

But before they do, Emma sees a woman being proposed to and doesn't clap for her. Instead, she pretty much accosts her at the bathroom saying that her beautiful proposal moment is going to end up in disappointment. The woman tells her to mind her own business and walks away.

Emma's husband isn't done with his evening of surprises. He makes her wear a blindfold for a one hour drive to their cabin which he decorated. He talks about rekindling the romance and leaves her notes and photos everywhere.

He also leaves a note for her to play the recorder which she does and then is shocked when the music player plays music.

Emma and her husband then get intimate with each other and she thinks that her marriage is finally going to be fixed.

When morning comes, she realizes just how wrong she is. She awakens to find herself handcuffed to her husband who then promptly shoots himself in the head.

Emma wonders if it is because he didn't like what happened last night or because of the disappointing gift she gave him.

In her shock, she somehow decides to roll on top of him and fall together on the floor.

Of course, the phones don't work. There are no keys on him. The gun only had that one bullet. Emma doesn't seem too upset about her husband killing himself because he couldn't bear staying with her. She's frustrated because she's handcuffed to him.

The next thing she does is steal his shirt and then drag his body downstairs. Her boyfriend comes along at some point and then two robbers promptly kill the boyfriend.

A whole chase sequence ensues where Emma manages to free herself from her husband after getting into the shed. There's some hiding, more chasing, and in the midst of all this Emma has gotten into the car to turn on the radio and find out that her husband was dying and knew about her affair and wanted to get his revenge.

He also siphoned the petrol off the car so she can't drive away.

There's more chasing and hiding and somewhere along the lines, the younger thief develops some sympathy for Emma.

Emma has now also stolen her boyfriend's coat. She is caught by one of the robbers who has come to the cabin to steal diamonds. He threatens to cut off her toes until she reveals the safe combination number. She doesn't have much to worry about it because the two thieves argue amongst themselves resulting in the younger one dying after it is revealed that the diamonds are in Emma's necklace and it won't come off. The solution was a shard Emma's husband left behind, hinting that the only way to get the diamonds is to cut off Emma's neck.

TILL DEATH Ending Explained with Spoilers!

After some running around, Emma and the robber reach outside after he is the one handcuffed to Emma's husband. They are on the frozen lake and Emma just about manages to create a hole that causes the husband to fall off, dragging the robber with him who also clasps Emma's throat and brings her down with him.

Emma still has the knife that she uses to stab the robber's eye underwater.

At one point it seems Emma is unable to emerge from the icy pond but then with a few breaths left, she still manages to stab the ice and pull herself out.

She lies on the icy surface, just like in one of the posters of the movie as sirens are heard but no cops are shown.

The movie is thrilling and the revenge plot disturbing, but it is the continuous chase scenes that are repetitive, and the unrealistic scene of the robber developing sympathy for Emma that spoils the fun.

Scare scale: 2.5/5

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
