The Fiddlewig Society--Short Horror Film Review
PLOT SUMMARY: When a man finds a tape in his closet, he learns the horrific tale of the Fiddlewig Society.
A suit hangs in a closet, there's a tape recorder next to it and a diary that is more like a scrap book. Do we dare open it and read the mysteries inside it? Or do we toss it all away and clear up some space in the closet for our stuff?
Well, of course we are going to play the tape and see what is on it before throwing it away.
In the case of this short movie, perhaps it is better to not be so curious after all. Even listening to a tape for a few second can get you in so much trouble.
THE FIDDLEWIG SOCIETY Plot (Spoilers ahead)
A man unlocks a closet to find a suit hanging and a tape recorder and a notebook beside it. The items belong to a man called Coutier and of course curiosity causes the man to play the recorder and learn what Coutier was up to.
Coutier was a researcher who was intrigued by the Fiddlewig Society. Victor Fiddlewig was an owner of the Outerwear Store from 1897 to 1903. He would lead shoppers to the basement and decapitate them in a ritualistic sacrifice.
Coutier states on the recorder that his house is built over that very store and that he has put himself in isolation. He claims he doesn't want anyone dragged into this research and so has locked it away.
Unfortunately Coutier doesn't do a great job of hiding the key because our hero has found it and gone through the research and seen the photographs of all the men from the society.
In the next instant, the book shows photographs of decapitated men dressed in suits. The headless men enter the apartment and then vanish in a blink of an eye. The book opens to show Victor Fiddlewig emerge and drag the man into the book where he then uses his axe on him.
In the last scene Victor Fiddlewig bows as if he has just performed a wondrous trick.
The movie is to the point, the special effects are effective and the story is well-written.
Scare Scale: 4/5
