The Whole Truth (2021)-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: When Pim and her brother Putt go live with their grandparents after their mother goes into a coma, they discover a hole in the wall visible only to them that shows them shocking secrets.

How much do we know about our family? Do we know every single detail about our loved ones? Especially our extended family?

Imagine finding out that the family members you were excited to meet for every festive occasion, was harbouring a deadly secret? Would we ever look at them the same way again?

THE WHOLE TRUTH Movie Plot

Mai has just received a promotion at work and can't wait to celebrate with her daughter Pim, and son Putt.

Pim is beautiful, smart, and captain of the cheerleading team at her school.  Putt has a disability and needs to walk with leg support. He also doesn't have any friends at school and is often bullied, mostly by his so-called friend Fame who is blackmailing him. Apparently, he has a video he keeps harassing Putt with because of which he keeps coming to the house and spying on Pim, especially as she is changing clothes.

Pim hates him and when Fame tries to force himself inside her room, she tricks him and injures his foot. An angry Fame warns Putt to get his sister to agree to go on a date or else he would circulate the video he took of her showering.

At work, Mai is given more responsibilities and has to work late. She calls Pim to cancel their celebratory dinner plans. The kids do their homework and eat cup noodles.

When Mai leaves the office, it is raining hard. Distracted from a call by Pim, she accidentally drives in the wrong lane and gets into an accident.

Pim is woken up by a knock on the door. She gets up to see an old man who claims to be her grandfather. He does know her mother's name as well as Pim's and Putt's. He takes them to see their mother at the hospital where the doctor informs them that Mai has slipped into a coma and there was no way of knowing when she would awaken.

Their grandfather insists they come live with him and their grandmother. The grandmother seems to be suffering from dementia. She recognizes Pim but calls Putt, Krit.

The kids pack up some stuff and head to their house. They find pictures of their mother in the room they are given although most of her photos are torn.

The kids come down the next day to find a breakfast of sunny Side ups, sausages and toast. Only Putt is given a big glass of milk. Pim's plate magically contains a tomato.

The grandfather requests the children to be patient with their grandmother and to play along with her as she is suffering from dementia.

At school, Pim is informed that she could win the place of the head captain of the cheerleaders again although there will be an election. Her friend Paew tells her that she is sure to win as no one on the team likes her opponent.

Putt is harassed by Fame some more who invites himself into his grandparent's house. Pim is upset to see her brother is a victim of bullying.

The siblings hear noises in the house and wonder who is living next to them.

They see a hole in the wall. Putt looks through and sees a girl vomiting blood.

He tells his grandparents about the hole but they are unable to see any holes in the wall. The grandmother keeps looking at the wall where there was once a clock hanging, evident by the outline left over. She is able to tell the time somehow.

The next day, she tells the kids not to upset their grandfather by making up stories about holes in the wall.

Their grandfather has woken up early in the morning and has gone to see the police. Apparently, he was in the police force too and so uses his connections to find out who was the one who caused the accident which caused Mai to go into a coma. When he learns its a young man whose father is a prominent figure in politics, he vows revenge. The police officer tells him that the young man claimed that his friend had caused the accident but Pim's grandfather is certain that the friend is taking the fall for his friend.

After school, Fame comes to see Putt and harasses him. Putt hears a noise and gets up. Fame thinks his friend is pranking him. Putt is drawn to the hole where he sees the little girl holding a baby and vomiting blood all over her.

He gasps and Fame thinks Putt is pulling his leg. He can't see the hole either but when he leans forward to where he thinks the hole is, he is pulled forward and suffers a bloody nose. Fame thinks that Putt pushed him and promises to make the clip about Pim, viral. He takes his bag and leaves, forgetting about his cellphone.

In fact, until the next day, Fame still doesn't come back for the very phone that he was using to blackmail Putt.

Pim comes to know why Putt has been putting up with Fame. She watches the video and feels humiliated. But there's no time to process this as a sound behind the walls catches their attention. The siblings get up and peek through the hole.

Pim sees a girl dragging herself across the floor and vomiting blood. There's a man passed out drunk on the sofa who isn't aware of what is happening in front of him.

Putt sees the girl fine and playing with the baby, although he notices the girl's face is a bit disfigured.

He wonders how it is that both of them see different things. He also points out that it is night there whereas it is daytime in reality. The siblings ponder further on it and wonder if what they are seeing are ghosts.

But Putt comes up with a different theory. He believes the hole is a wormhole and what they are viewing is an event from the past.

The siblings slowly realize that the room is the same one as their grandparents' living room. They believe that the horrific incident took place in this very house.

On the other side, their grandfather is stalking the young man he thinks is responsible for his daughter being in a coma. He is spying on him at a party when Pim calls to let him know that Putt has been vomiting blood and that his fever isn't going down.

Putt is made to rest while Pim goes through Fame's phone to find shocking messages. At school, it is decided that Pim will be captain again. But before that, she is surprised to find that her friend Paew's name is also listed as a candidate.

After winning, Pim walks aside and then confronts Paew publicly for sabotaging her chances to become captain again. Turns out, it was her friend Paew who had made the video and sent it to Fame so he could blackmail Pim which would make her want to not run for captain anymore.

Paew admits she did all this because she was sick of Pim being pretty and acting nice. She states that no one actually likes Pim.

With friends like these, who needs enemies?

The admission is made in front of the coach who punishes Paew and tells her she already knew about this as Pim had shown her the video and messages.

The truth was finally out.

At home, Putt isn't getting better and his grandmother keeps insisting he keeps drinking milk as it is better than medicine.

Their grandfather is busy stalking the perpetrator and blocks his way in a tunnel. The young man gets out of the car only for the older man to attack him and burn him alive.

On the other side, Mai finally wakes up. When she is informed by the doctor that her kids are with their grandparents, she runs away from the hospital.

When the grandfather is informed, he gets angry and even more so when his colleague at the police station informs him that a dashcam proved that the young man was telling the truth and it was his friend who had been driving and hit Mai.

Mai goes directly to her parent's house where Putt is getting sicker by the minute. Mai finds her pet cat dead on the lawn after it drank some of the milk Putt had spilt.

It's time for The Whole Truth to be revealed.

THE WHOLE TRUTH Ending Explained with spoilers!

Mai confronts her parents and wants to take her children away from them. Turns out, Mai can see the hole as well. Even her mother but her husband had been giving her pills to suppress the ghostly visions he said were hallucinations.

The truth was that Mai was married to a man called Krit who was an artist and didn't earn much. They had a daughter called Pinya who had a deformed face.

One day, when no one was at home, Pinya, who was sick, wanted to play hide and seek with her father. Krit was drinking at that time but still agreed to seek if she hid.

Pinya goes to hide under the space under the stairs. Above the door was where there was a clock the grandmother kept staring at. When she came downstairs and saw the door ajar, she locked it up. Krit was already passed out drunk by then.

Pinya was inside the space for too long and drank rat poison. She cried and vomited (cheap effects) blood but Krit didn't help her.

When Mai returned with baby Pim and saw Pinya on the floor, she breaks down. Her parents come in and blame Krit for being irresponsible.

In the next scene, there's a gunshot heard and Krit falls to his death. Turns out, the hole in the wall was caused by the bullet passing through Krit's head and into the wall.

Mai demands to know from her father how Krit ended up with the gun in his hand. At this point, it seems like she's certain that her father actually shot Krit and made it look like a suicide after finding Pinya dead.

This is weird considering what we find out later.

Pim puts together the fact that her grandmother has been too insistent on Putt drinking milk and picks up the glass and threatens to drink the milk. Her grandmother discourages her and another horrific truth is revealed. The grandmother had been poisoning her grandchildren whom she thought were unworthy of her affections because they had a disfigurement.

Pinya had a disfigured face and Putt was a cripple. Their grandmother tells them how her daughter Mai was perfect but she married a useless man like Krit and then produced deformed children that she wanted to get rid of.

Mai is horrified to learn that her mother had poisoned Pinya and was poisoning Putt. She wants to leave again and warns her parents to never go near her children again.

The grandparents try to stop Mai but are confronted by the ghosts of Pinya and the young man the grandfather had burned alive.

Later, Mai has recovered fully and so has Putt. They return home and Pim states she feels like she hasn't learned the Whole Truth yet.

The whole truth turns out to be Mai being the one who impulsively shot her husband Krit after he failed to take care of Pinya and save her life.

A family with secrets can truly be dangerous.

But what happens now? Will Krit haunt Mai until she revealed the truth?

The movie had a decent story but the pacing was too slow. There were unnecessary scenes regarding Pim's and Putt's High school drama that deviated from the main story and didn't do much to add to the proceedings.

And then there were the plotholes that slowed down the story even more.

This could have been an enjoyable movie had the acting been better, the editing a little tight and the pacing improved.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon.
