Horror Weekly News: Stephen King's Mr Harrigan's Phone coming soon. Will there be a NOPE sequel?

Yet another short story by Stephen King will be coming to your screen soon.

Taken from the short story collection IF IT BLEEDS, come October, we will be treated to the film adaptation of the story MR. HARRIGAN’S PHONE.

In the story, a boy called Craig starts working for an elderly man called Mr Harrigan. Soon after, they become friends. One day, Craig gifts Mr Harrigan a smart phone but shortly after, the older man passes away.

Craig feels heartbroken for losing a friend and before Mr Harrigan could be buried with his phone, pockets it.

Craig becomes a victim of bullying and one day, calls Mr Harrigan’s phone just so he could hear his friend’s voice. However, when Craig learns that the bully committed suicide the next day, he grows frightened and throws away the phone.

Craig gets a new phone and the next few years are spent without incident. However, when his favorite teacher is killed in an accident and the driver who caused it is set free without punishment, Craig once more uses the phone to call Mr Harrigan.

The next day, Craig learns that the drunk driver has committed suicide.

Following that incident, Craig throws his phone into the lake.

The story ends there but there is a possibility the film adaptation will bring on an interesting twist to it.

The movie is set to release on October 5th on Netflix and stars Jaeden Martell as Craig and Donald Sutherland as Mr Harrigan.

In other news…

Jordan Peele’s NOPE has found success at the box office and with critics. However, the story of Nope doesn’t end just yet.

Although Jordan Peele’s movies rarely have a sequel, it is rumored that NOPE will have a sequel. Jordan Peele himself has stated that he is not done telling the characters’ stories just yet.

Interestingly, a character called Nobody was listed in the cast list and fans remember seeing a glimpse of the actor in the trailer, yet the character did not make an appearance in the movie.

Just what happened to NOBODY?

Well, we will find out what happened to Nobody in the sequel.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
