Horror Weekly News: Gale trailer drops. The Mean One is a Christmas Present for Horror Fans.

We’re off to see the wizard…the wonderful wizard of oz.

Remember the classic story written by L. Frank Baum and how captivating we found the tale of a young girl and her dog getting swept away in a cyclone and transported to a magical place?

She makes friends there of course. The Lion, the Tin Man, and the Scarecrow.

Her name was Dorothy and her dog’s name was Toto. The new friends all want something from the Wizard who possesses the ability to change their lives.

But all Dorothy wants is to go home.

Along the way, she must also deal with a wicked witch and flying monkeys. In the end, Dorothy manages to return home and the story ends with us wondering if she really did go to a place or suffered some head injury that caused her to have hallucinations.

There were a couple of sequels and stories, but none tell us what happened to Dorothy years after that. Did she marry? Did she have kids?

Well, now we are going to get all our answers with GALE—Stay Away from Oz.

The trailer shows a young woman called Emily who is consulting a tarot card reader. She talks about how she feels like someone or something is calling out to her. All of this has happened after she meets her grandmother…Dorothy Gale.

No one knew Dorothy had a family and when Emily goes to see her, the minute she touches her, the old woman suddenly begins to respond. She keeps saying “stay away from us”, only to suddenly transform into a wicked woman with black eyes and blackened teeth. She yells “stay away from Oz.”

The nurses assure Emily that her grandmother has had issues with psychosis but Emily soon finds herself haunted by visions.

Or does psychosis run in the family?

If it does, why is the tarot card reader attacked by a woman who looks like a witch?

The trailer doesn’t give away much. We don’t get a release date either.

The movie is written and directed by Daniel Alexander and stars Chloë Crump with Karen Swan.

 In other news…

The Christmas season is upon us and while there is always an influx of new Christmas-themed movies dropping in, there has always been a special place for the classics.

Especially THE GRINCH.

The Grinch was a green creature who hated Christmas and especially the people who celebrated it. He hated the noise, the singing, the everything. All he wanted was some peace and quiet. So what does he do? Steal Christmas.

He succeeds in stealing gifts and decorations but the one thing he couldn’t steal was people’s Christmas Spirit. In the end, the Grinch learns that the true meaning of Christmas is unity and family love. He returns the presents and celebrates the festival with everyone.

Now, imagine if this was a horror story.

Turns out, this story has already been imagined as a horror tale.

You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch...

Turns out in this movie, aptly titled THE MEAN ONE, the Grinch is not only mean. He is murderous.

Instead of stealing Christmas decorations and presents, he murders people who dare celebrate this festival.

Young Cindy watched her parents die by the Mean One when she was a baby. Now, years later, she decides that the only way she can seek closure for that traumatic incident is by killing the Mean One once and for all.

But all that will probably happen towards the end. In the meantime, we are going to see the Grinch happily murder a lot of people.

The Mean One stars David Howard Thornton who played Art in the now-popular horror movie TERRIFIER 2. He will play the titular character in this movie.

The movie also stars Krystle Martin as Cindy.

The movie is directed by Steven LaMorte and will be available for free everywhere on December 15th.

It’s a Christmas present for all horror fans!

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
