Horror Book of the Week: Prowl
This week’s HORROR BOOK OF THE WEEK is PROWL.
Written by Elizabeth Myrva, the book is a fantasy-romance short story.
The Plot (Taken from Amazon.com)
One human heart will save them all.
For ten years I’ve listened to my Grandmother’s warnings; Don’t be too loud, don’t stand out, and, most of all, don’t be Chosen like my mother had been. To be dressed in white and presented to the beast that prowls the misty forest surrounding our village. To be a sacrifice that protects our people from the beast’s wrath for another decade.
My mother’s cloak still hangs in the square, preserved as proof of the last sacrifice made. Where once it was white, as they all start, it’s now stained with the last of her blood. It’s all that was left of her.
My sister, too young to remember when they’d taken my mother away, doesn’t take our grandmother’s warning to heart as she should. But I have. My entire life, I’ve behaved and watched over my reckless sister so we can both avoid our mother's fate. Until I’m betrayed.
Fate Chose me, but I’m more than a sacrifice to the beast prowling in the woods. He’s more than I ever expected, and he’s hungry for more than just my blood.
Prowl is a short story, little red riding hood retelling. It's dark, spicy, and introduces you to the Aphotic World in its beginning.
