Horror Weekly News: Evil Dead Rise Trailer drops. The Thing Remake in the works.

The trailer for EVIL DEAD RISE has dropped and well, que sera sera.

The movie is the new film in the EVIL DEAD franchise and tells the story of a woman visiting her sister and niece and nephews. The infamous book that was used to summon deadbites which causes people to become possessed, shows up in the house. Chaos ensues.

The red band trailer has violence galore and is not for the faint of heart. Plus, we get to see that once the person is infected and possessed, their cooking skills go down the drain.

We see the mother cracking eggs in a pan and not removing the shells. The kids are shocked because they hadn’t anticipated that they would no longer be getting a proper breakfast.

The mother uses kitchen utensils to inflict violence on people, including a cheese grater. In one scene, she is seen scalping someone and then carrying it around and dropping the skin and hair on the docks.

But will we see Ash Williams, return?

Ash Williams has been the protagonist of the Evil Dead movies and has also featured in the TV series.

Perhaps Ash Williams may have a cameo and save the day, after all.

EVIL DEAD RISE releases on April 21st.

In other news…

THE THING gets a remake too!

Blumhouse Productions will be bringing back the adaptation of the novel written by John W. Campbell Jr.

THE THING was adapted into a movie in 1982 and received negative reviews. It was considered neither a hit nor a flop, and as it turned out, John Carpenter, the director of the movie, lost projects because of the performance of the movie.

Years later, THE THING is now on the favorite list of horror fans. The movie is commended on effects and acting skills and naturally, the dearth of good original stories has led to movies from the past being remade.

Will this new adaptation find success? Time will tell.

For now, no details have been revealed except that it will be based on the long-lost original work from the author.
