Horror Weekly News: Purge 6 in the works. Ryan Phillippe stars in thriller One Mile.

You have one night to do whatever you want. Crime is legal for the next 12 hours. What would you do? Commit a crime or save yourself from others who will?

The Purge was a franchise that began in 2013. It’s concept was what made it a popular movie among horror fans. Crime? Legal for twelve hours? What kind of a world would that be?

Well, according to the movie, the Purge is what could keep a country crime-free should people get to enact and unleash their deepest desires. Just get it out of their systems. Something like a catharsis.

The scary part is, no one is deemed trustworthy anymore. Not your best friend or your neighbor. After all, you never know what one person is actually thinking or capable of. And if that person even likes you in the first place.

Five parts and a TV show later, THE PURGE is still not over.

There will be a sixth film in the franchise and we will see the return of Frank Grillo who plays Leo Barnes, a sergeant whose son was killed in a drunk driving incident. He waits until the annual Purge to get revenge on the man responsible, only to spare him in the end.

In the following parts, Leo Barnes becomes chief of security for a senator and after the events in The Purge: Election Year, he is appointed Director of Secret Service.

The sixth film, still untitled will focus on Leo Barnes as he navigates through a global Purge situation.

Will Leo Barnes survive? This may be the last Purge movie after all…

In other news…

Road trips can be dangerous and hence should never be used as a catalyst to mend relationships. Because that is when scary things happen.

ONE MILE follows the story of a man who has just been set free from prison. He wants to reconnect with his daughter who has obviously distanced herself from him following his arrest.

He offers to take her on a college tour and she agrees, but as they drive past the woods, something in there puts their lives in danger. Turns out a murderous cult targets father and daughter, and it is up to the father to protect his daughter at all costs.

Ryan Phillipe stars in this and since he has been signed onto the sequel as well, and it is being shot back to back, we can safely presume that the father survives in this movie.

But…what about the daughter?

No further details have been revealed yet.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
