Quick Movie Reviews: Play Dead
Plot: In order to save her brother from imprisonment, Chloe fakes her own death to enter a morgue. Once inside, she realizes the coroner has been running a sick business on the side.
If there’s one thing you can learn from thrillers, it is that you really need to be good at games like Hide and Seek, and chasing games. And you also need to be in really good shape to be able to fit into small spaces, and be able to wear clothes that are usually available only in small sizes.
Also, if you are a woman, your chances of survival increase, and you will not suffer any serious injuries. If you are a man, you are bound to be shot somewhere even if you end up alive in the end.
PLAY DEAD isn’t really much about playing dead. The protagonist, Chloe, plays dead for like five mino one else at the morgue nutes before she plays a lot of childhood games with the coroner who is actually equally adept.
Because of staff shortage, there is no one else at the morgue which gives our villain, the coroner, the advantage to run a side business. His reasoning? When people cannot contribute to society, they must contribute another way, by giving their organs to save other people’s lives.
Chloe realizes what is going on and must now not only retrieve a phone that ties her brother to a crime, but must also save herself from a deranged man. If she doesn’t escape in time, she might just end up losing a vital organ.
Well, there are no spoilers here, but Chloe does survive, does help her brother, and is a hero. The coroner doesn’t stand a chance. Neither does the sheriff who is the coroner’s secret partner.
The movie is nevertheless an average watch but don’t find yourself surprised if you lose interest along the way.
Scare Scale: 2.5/5
