Quick Book Review of ASK FOR ANDREA

They say you should be careful about who you talk to online, and boy should you be.

We meet Meghan first, a year before. The scene opens with her being strangled and through a flashback it is learned that she had met her killer on MatchStrike, a dating app.

The guy who she thought was a green flag turns out to be really red. During the date, she goes to the bathroom, where there is a message advising women to ask for Andrea at the bar should they need rescuing from a bad date. Meghan thinks she's fortunate not to have to go through a bad date. As it turns out, she is in more trouble than she thought and ends up being killed.

We then meet Brecia and learn that she had been dating her killer for a long time before deciding he was too possessive and hand anger issues. She ends up being strangled by her own extension cord she was throwing away, a year after she broke up with her killer.

Next it is Skye who appears to be younger than the other two women. She is smitten by this one customer who looks like Chris Hemsworth. This is exactly the same description Meghan and Brecia have used to describe James. Brecia had also described him as Joaquin Phoenix.

Skye almost gives him her number but decides against it. He ends up giving her a ride and then killing her near the mountains.

Among all three, it is Brecia who decides to haunt James and enters his house to find out that he has a wife called April and two daughters. Apparently, his family his blissfully unaware of James' killer tendencies.

Told in the first person, the story is immersive and you will find yourself not only relating to the characters but also feeling sympathy for their plight.

The writing flows well and there is never a dull moment or excess words wasted to describe something irrelevant to the story. The book encompasses the thriller elements well and stitches it into the narrative so seamlessly that you will want to continue reading the book.

Should you pick up this book? Definitely.

The Plot (Taken from Amazon.com)

James Carson has gotten away with murder three times.

The only thing that might stop him from killing again? The three women he murdered.

He hunted them online, masquerading as an eligible bachelor. Then he played the perfect gentleman, a thick layer of charm and a thousand-watt smile hiding the fact that his first dates end in shallow graves.

What James doesn’t know is that his three victims have found each other. And that they're coming for him.

Brecia, Meghan, and Skye might be dead, but they’re not gone. And they won’t rest until they find a way to keep him from killing again.

The haunt is on.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
