Horror Short Film Review: The Milkman

Plot: A man gets a peepscope with a comic book that tells a terrifying story.

Remember the view master toy we had as kids? The ones that came with reels that told a short, mostly funny, story.

It was a simple form of entertainment that we indulged in.

The Milkman from Buried Hatchet Productions shows how a simple toy can turn deadly.

The Milkman Plot

A man opens a package and unboxes a vintage Peep-scope. He sets up the comic strip and sits back to enjoy the story.

Except the story is not funny at all. It is about a Milkman who delivered milk bottles all around town. One day, however, a family dies due to poisoning and the Milkman is suspected.

The town accuses the Milkman who keeps pleading for his life as he is chased to the edge of a cliff. His cries about being innocent aren't heard. The Milkman jumps off the cliff. The town is shocked at their actions, but it is too late to do anything now. His truck was condemned and the Milkman was washed away at sea.

The man is clearly disturbed by what he has witnessed. He goes to eat an apple but hears glass shatter. He finds a broken bottle of curdled milk.

That is when he hears a jingle. Right outside his home is a milk truck. Perplexed, the man realizes that the story of the Milkman is far from over.

The Milkman Ending Explained with spoilers!

He looks into the Peep-scope again and is astounded to see himself in the comic. The Milkman is there as well, right behind him.

He turns but there is no one. Classic horror gimmick.

Spooked, he rushes to the basement and uses the Peep-scope again. This time the Milkman is standing right atop the stairs.

The man is repeatedly stabbed and becomes part of the comic book strip.

The movie manages to create atmospheric tension that is complemented by an effective background score.

Although we will never know why the "innocent" Milkman turns murderous in the afterlife and killed a harmless man, the story is satisfyingly creepy and creates an eerie experience.

What you can take away from this movie is: always be careful when buying antiques. You never know which vengeful spirit is attached to it.

The movie stars Ben Goldman as the Milkman, and Larry Thompson as the man.

This horror short is written and directed by Vincent Dormani.

Scare Scale: 4/5

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
