Horror Weekly News: Haunted Mansion teaser drops. The Unheard releasing in March.

When The Haunted Mansion released in 2003, it received negative reviews and thought to have performed badly at the box office.

Over the years, the movie achieved cult status and in 2010, Guillermo del Toro was attached to write and produce the movie. He did draft a script only for it to be passed over when it was deemed too scary and that they would not be able to retain the PG-13 rating.

And so Katie Dippold was hired. She is known for writing scripts for movies like The Heat, Ghostbusters, and Parks & Recreation.

The new film will be directed by Justin Simien.

The 2003 movie was about a couple who had let some distance crop between them, only for a ghostly encounter to make them realize their love for one another.

The 2023 movie now has a single mother move in with her son into a haunted mansion.

The teaser shows the mother, played by Rosario Dawson is shown trying to literally lighten the mansion by suggesting they light vanilla scented candles. Her son doesn’t think the idea will work.

Cue the ghosts and then paranormal experts and priests coming in to help the single mother.

The movie also stars Owen Wilson and Danny Devito, and is set to release on July 28th.

In other news…

Experimental procedures can either work or go horribly wrong.

Meet Chloe who has a hearing problem, agree to get an operation done that will restore her hearing. And so off she goes letting a large needle prick her ear.

As luck would have it, she begins to hear things but she soon realizes that everything she hears, isn’t exactly there.

And what she hears is her mother’s voice. Except her mother had disappeared a long time ago.

Is Chloe hallucinating or is her mother really trying to reach her?

The Unheard stars Lachlan Watson and releases on March 31st.
