Horror Weekly News: Talk to Me picked up by A24. The Last Voyage of Demeter sails into theatres in August.

Talk to the hand takes a whole new meaning in A24’S latest horror movie. After premiering at the Sundance Film Festival, TALK TO ME was well-received by critics and spurred a bidding war with A24 finally winning the rights to distribute the film.

Talk to Me is about Mia who has recently lost her mother. After she comes across videos of parties where guests participate in games that let them talk to people from the other side.

Mia manages to convince her friend to attend such a party and volunteers the first one to go.

All she has to do is light a candle, touch an embalmed hand for ninety seconds, and say: TALK TO ME.

Cue flickering lights and doors being forcefully closed. Mia believes she has made contact with her mother and according to the trailer, has kept the embalmed hand so she can feel her mother’s presence again.

But clearly, something is off and she finds herself and her friends, victims of a terrifying haunting. The question is, did Mia remember to close the door to the other side?

The movie currently holds a rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Starring Sophie Wilde and Alexandra Jensen, the movie is slated to release on 28th July.

In other news…

Have you ever wondered how Dracula made it to England?

He took a ship and hid among the cargo. But when the ship eventually reached its destination, most of the crew had perished and only the Captain remained.

So just what happened on that ship?

Based on a chapter from the 1897 novel DRACULA, THE LAST VOYAGE OF DEMETER reveals what exactly happened on that journey from Carpathia to London.

The trailer shows a man called Clemens joining the voyage on the ship Demeter. He is a doctor who manages to impress the crew with his knowledge of ships.

There is a dog on the ship called Huckleberry and although it doesn’t get much screen time in the trailer, no doubt he is of importance to the story considering that in the novel, a dog was seen jumping off the ship.

Eventually the crew learns that something in the cargo-hold has been feeding on all the livestock. Clemens finds bite marks on the animals’ necks and fears the worst.

The crew begins to believe there is a literal devil on board and soon after we see a winged creature attacking everyone.

Considering that none of the crew survived when it reached London according to the novel, it doesn’t seem anyone apart from Clemens is going to see daylight again.

The movie stars Corey Hawkins and Liam Cunningham.

The Last Voyage of the Demeter will release on August 11th.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
