Horror Weekly News: FNaF gets a teaser. Mortal Kombat 2 in the works.
During the day it is a place of joy. But you’re not here during the day. You have the night watch.
Released in 2014, FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S (FNaF) became widely popular and praised for its gameplay and scary story. The game turned into a franchise which had a total of nine games.
The story was about an employee who has a night shift at a family’s pizzeria. Once it is night, the hostile animatronic create chaos and it is up to the player to navigate and defend himself using security cameras, lights, and doors.
The game received favorable reviews when it was released and became popular enough for a fanbase to form.
When it was announced in 2017, that Blumhouse had acquired the rights for a movie adaptation, fans eagerly awaited its release.
In December 2022, Josh Hutcherson and Matthew Lillard were cast although the characters they would be playing was not disclosed. The movie was shot from February to April after several delays regarding scripting issues.
The movie will be released this year and the teaser drop has everyone talking about it.
The teaser shows an old TV ad for Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. Things look fun and the kids certainly seemed to be having the time of their lives.
That is when things suddenly go bleak. The night watchman arrives and we see the animatronics hidden behind curtains. In the next moment, a kid is forced to hide in the ball pit as the animatronics approach it.
Although fans were beyond thrilled to finally get a teaser, most were critical of the red glowing eyes which have become a common horror trope.
Fans of the game had appreciated the animatronics’ soulless eyes as they walked down dark corridors. Now that they have red glowing eyes, fans were put off by it as they don’t appear that menacing to them.
Earlier, when fans had criticised the initial look of Sonic the Hedgehog, the creators had no choice but to immediately rework the look so that the character looked more like the one in games.
Whether or not the animatronics will still sport red, glowing eyes upon release, remains to be seen.
The movie will release on October 27th in theatres and on Peacock.

Get over here, and check out this next piece of news.
Following the success of the Mortal Kombat reboot in 2021, a sequel has been greenlit and the casting for characters has begun.
While the first movie had characters Sonya, Cole, Jax, Kano, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero in it, the next part will finally bring in Johnny Cage, Kitana, and Quan Chi.
Considering that Sub-Zero is killed at the end of the movie, the arrival of Quan Chi will be essential into bringing back Sub-Zero back into the story.
In the game, Quan Chi was a sorcerer and had corrupted Bi-Han, aka Sub Zero, and transformed him into the Wraith, Noob Saibot.
While the story has yet to be revealed, we can assume that the movie will feature Noob Saibot as the actor who played Sub-Zero, Joe Taslim, has been seen with the director of the movie recently.
While the new cast is being finalized, there are rumors that Karl Urban may play Johnny Cage, and Tati Gabrielle may play Jade.
No release date has been set as of yet.
