Carrie-- My take on the movie with Spoilers!

Plot: An outcast in high school makes her bullies pay after they pull a mean prank on her at prom.

You will know her name.

That is what the tagline of the movie states.

The thing is, it seems that everyone at her high school, knows her name. How else will they write mean things like, "Carrie White eats Sh*t". Or, "Carrie White is in Hell." And so on.

Carrie is adapted from a novel written by Stephen King. This novel propelled the author to fame and so it's no doubt that CARRIE has become a cult figure in horror.

Carrie is the ultimate revenge story. But it is also about the questionable mental health, especially where Carrie's mother Margaret is concerned.

CARRIE Movie Plot

Margaret is on her bed, screaming. There's blood on the sheets.

She feels a movement, lifts up her gown and sees a baby. She thinks it's a test and picks up a pair of scissors. No, not to cut the umbilical cord but to stab her daughter. Something stops her and Margaret picks up her baby and cuddles her.

The scene establishes Margaret's mental health issues. Turns out she didn't know she was pregnant. Did she think she was getting fat or that there was a tumor growing inside her?

Was Margaret never educated? Based on what we learn later and the verses she recites, Margaret may have been homeschooling and possibly taught archaic subjects.

Time passes and we meet Carrie White who is meek looking and seems content with merging in the background.

During swimming, Carrie watches her classmate Sue with her boyfriend. Clearly, she has a longing within her and an obvious crush on Tommy, Sue's boyfriend.

The PE teacher Ms Desjardin seems to feel sorry for Carrie. When the ball falls in front of Carrie, Ms Desjardin uses it as an excuse to pull her in the game.

Carrie serves and accidentally boinks Sue's head who is standing before her. Everyone laughs and Carrie joins in. Chris, Sue's friend isn't too happy about Carrie getting any attention and says that she eats sh*t. Immediately the laughter is directed at Carrie.

Afterwardshower,  Carrie heads to the showers and is rubbing soap all over her body when she notices blood on it. Looking down, she sees blood oozing out of her and freaks out. She begs everyone for help but they all mock her.

It takes a while for Sue and Chris to realize that Carrie has no idea she has just gotten her period. They also find it funny that Carrie has put period blood on their clothes.

They begin to chant "Plug it up!" And throw tampons and pads at her. Desjardin enters and turns away the girls. Carrie is inconsolable and so Desjardin slaps her hard. Carrie stops crying instantly.

She is taken to the principal's office where Desjardin explains to her about what is happening to her body. The principal is awkward about the blood stains on Desjardin's clothes but manages to keep his calm.

However, he does tell Carrie that he will have to inform her mother. Carrie is disturbed immediately. She tells him not to but rules are rules.

And the rules of the school lets Desjardin decide the punishment for the bullies responsible for harassing Carrie while she was on her period.

Carrie tries to fruitlessly hide as Margaret walks in with command and takes Carrie home. She looks out the car window and sees Chris showing her friends the video she made of Carrie freaking out. Sue seems guilty but doesn't stop Chris from snickering about the incident.

Carrie is wary of her mother, frightened even. But the minute they get out of the car, she demands to know why Margaret didn't tell her about menstruation.

Margaret is busy banging her head on the wall and telling her that getting periods are a sin.

Carrie has learned enough in the two minutes with Desjardin to know what exactly is going on with her body.

Margaret commands she recite verses but Carrie reminds her those verses don't even exist. Margaret bops her with the bible and Carrie falls to the floor.

Carrie is then sent into the closet to pray because she is a bad girl for getting her period. Margaret believes she will soon follow her suit and lie with a man. She tells Carrie she thought she was cancer and not a baby.

Carrie begins banging on the door and suddenly a large crack forms on the door. The crack is never fixed and will be used later in the movie.

Margaret hums and prepares dinner. Finally, realizing that Carrie must have learned her lesson, she lets her out. Carrie is humbled. Or she's just hungry. Either way, the two make up.

While they are bonding, Sue is busy bonding with Tommy in his car. But Tommy can sense Sue is distracted and she admits she is thinking about what she did to Carrie.

Tommy tells her a story about kicking his bully when he was already down. But Carrie had never done anything to Sue and she had still bullied her. Sue feels awful and Tommy asks her to make up for it to feel better. He should have thought twice before saying that...

Chris has nothing better to do but upload videos of Carrie's humiliation. Apparently in high school there's no concept of homework of any sort.

The next day, Desjardin issues her punishment and makes the girls run around because they are heartless bullies. Chris says nope to the whole thing and pisses off Desjardin who then takes away her promo rights.

Prom is the most important thing for Chris, more than good grades or anything. She complains to her parents who come in to fight with the principal. He remains quiet however while Desjardin tells Chris' parents that she will apologize if Chris' phone doesn't have the video she took of Carrie.

Chris refuses to give her the phone. And that's the end of her prom dreams.

Meanwhile, Carrie has realized she has telekinetic powers and begins to watch YouTube videos on all the fun things she can do with it. The first thing she does is levitate her bed and other things in her bedroom. Margaret comes along and Carrie is able to put down everything quietly, turn off lights and pretend to be asleep.

At school, Carrie is busy using her powers to play with flags outside which causes her teacher to call out on her. Clearly, he isn't as sympathetic as the other teachers. In fact, he smirks and winks at a girl in class.

Carrie is told to recite her favorite poem and she does. The class is rapt with attention but when it is over, the teacher comments about it being scary.

Tommy calls him a name and then stands up for Carrie. Sue notices that Carrie has an obvious crush on Tommy.

We finally see what Margaret does for work. She works at the laundromat but is also a tailor. She is busy fixing clothes when Sue's mother comes up to pick up her dress. She sincerely apologizes for Sue's behavior but Margaret uses a needle to poke herself with rather than accept the apology. She then tells Sue's mother that they are living in godless times. Sue's mother looks at Margaret like she's a total weirdo.

Sue is busy decorating the gymnasium when Chris storms in and asks Chris why she didn't stand up for her. Sue repeats Chris' dialogues about Carrie not doing anything bad to them.

Chris taunts Sue for looking after her own interests causing Sue to go up to Tommy and tell him to ask Carrie to the prom. Tommy is horrified.

He wants to go with Sue but it was because of his insistence that his girlfriend wanted to repent. Rather than apologizing, she uses her boyfriend to go with Carrie so she can have a magical night.

Proms are akin to Princess balls.

Tommy goes to the library where he finds Carrie with her nose buried in a book. He asks her to the prom and she looks at him cautiously. The students around them watch the two in surprise.

Carrie doesn't believe Tommy is genuinely asking and runs off. But Tommy follows her and asks her again. Carrie tells him straight away that she feels he is tricking her. Tommy tries to assure her but she runs away again.

Carrie goes to the locker room to cry and Desjardin appears, demanding to know if someone is bullying her. Desjardin doesn't mind doling out more punishment.

Carrie tells her that Tommy asked her to the prom and she is certain she is being tricked.

Desjardin clearly believes her but doesn't say it aloud. Instead she realizes that Carrie has low self-esteem and convinces her that she is pretty but needs makeup and a fancy dress.

Off Carrie goes while Desjardin confronts Tommy and Sue. Sue can't believe Carrie said no to Tommy and tells him to ask her again.

He goes all the way to her house, and Carrie, fearing her mother will notice him, agrees to go to the prom.

Carrie is out buying a dress and Chris who is loitering about, happens to notice her. She gets jealous because how dare Carrie is going to prom but not her?

Carrie reaches home only to be scolded by Margaret who tells her she isn't allowed to go anywhere else except for school. Carrie tells Margaret about her invitation to prom. Margaret says Nope. Carrie and Margaret have a huge argument where Carrie tells her that all she wants for herself is to be normal. Margaret tells her to go in the closet to pray.

Not wanting to spend her life in the closet, praying, Carrie decides to show Margaret just what she is capable of. She uses her power to chokehold Margaret and lift her. The threat is made and Carrie lays down the rules that she will go to the prom no matter what.

While Carrie is happily making her dress from scratch, Chris and her friends have come up with a devious plan to commit not only a prank, but a criminal offence.

Along with her boyfriend Billy , they head to a farm to slaughter a poor pig. Billy kisses the sledgehammer before killing the pig. Turns out there were pig droppings on that sledgehammer and the actor playing Billy actually fell sick.

The blood is collected, enough of it to fill a bucket.

Sue is still playing the sacrificing girlfriend and still helping with decorations even though she isn't going to the prom. She suddenly falls sick and goes to the bathroom to vomit. Sue clutches her stomach after, considering she may be pregnant.

CARRIE Ending Explained with Spoilers!

Prom night arrives and Carrie had made a pretty decent dress with the dull fabric she bought.

Margaret tells her that she can see her pillows. Carrie tells her that those are not the terms used in science books. Margaret tells her people will only laugh at her and that Tommy isn't even coming.

Only Tommy does, in a limo. Margaret keeps going on about stuff and Carrie has had it. She zips up her mouth and uses her power to fling her in the closet.

Too lazy to actually use her hands now, Carrie uses her telekinesis to turn on the music and lock doors. She greets Tommy and he assures her he will have her back by 10:30.

They leave and attend the prom, having a great time meeting friends and dancing. When the time comes to vote for Prom King and Prom Queen, Tommy convinces her to vote for herself.

But Carrie did not have to worry about losing because Chris' friend has rigged the voting process.

Chris sneaks into school with Billy and head up, taking their positions above the stage.

Sue receives a text from Tommy telling her everything is going great. Sue is having movie night with her family.

At school, Carrie and Tommy are voted King and Queen. They head up to the stage. Chris sends a text to Sue that Carrie isn't going to look good for long. Sue heads to the school immediately.

She reaches just in time to see Carrie having a fairytale moment. She looks up and sees Chris and tries to warn Ms Desjardin who practically throws Sue out.

The next instant, a bucket of pig's blood falls on Carrie. We get to see that scene from three different angles.

After the initial shock, everyone bursts out laughing. In the background, Chris' friend plays the tampon tossing video.

Tommy calls for everyone to stop this not realizing the bucket is still dangling and come loose. Bang! It falls on his head and he dies on the spot.

Chris who was having second thoughts about the prank but nevertheless urged by Billy to go ahead, flees the scene while cackling madly.

Carrie loses it when she sees Tommy dead. Sue is in shock too. Carrie can't take that someone ruined her dress too and goes into full Carrie mode.

Things crash and fall, students begin to run but Carrie locks the door. She closes the bleachers trapping the students. Others get trampled.

Fire rages on and Carrie chokeholds Desjardin before putting her aside and going after everyone who laughed at her.

The fire spreads and Carrie uses her power to fly. Why bother with walking now.

She goes outside while people are still scrambling to make an escape.

Chris and Billy are trying to drive away to a new city after the chaos they created. But Carrie comes up behind them and poses.

Then using her powers, she causes a car crash. Billy and Chris meet with grisly deaths. For a grand finale, Carrie causes their car to explode.

Carrie finally heads home and calls out for her mama who used her nails to pry open the door using the previous crack made by Carrie.

After not finding her, Carrie takes a nice bath to wipe away the blood. Margaret watches her while Carrie dresses and heads to her room. She's being horror movie creepy and it looks like Margaret took a bath too.

Carrie finds Margaret and they embrace. Carrie tells her mother she was right only to be stabbed in the back by her.

Carrie is then pushed down the stairs. She begs her mother not to do this but Margaret has gone full psycho.

Right before she is about to stab Carrie, our heroine finally uses her powers to not only stop her but summon every sharp object in the house and aim it ay Margaret.

Margaret is stabbed and pinned to the wall. Carrie tries to help her but Margaret  who has been stabbed all over, is clearly dying.

Sue comes over to help but Carrie tells her to get lost before also informing her she is having a girl.

Sue is flung outside while Carrie uses her powers to summon a rain of rocks to crush the house. She cradles her mother as the house collapses on her.

Time passes and Sue is seen in court giving her testimony. She states that Carrie was pushed too far.

Apparently she is the only sympathetic person in town.

She then goes to the cemetery to lay flowers on Carrie's grave and sees someone has put graffiti and written that Carrie White is in hell.

Sue leaves but a crack forms on the headstone.

Uh oh...is Carrie's ghost still roaming about and possesses telekinesis?

We will never find out what that was all about.

The movie ends.

Carrie was an entertaining movie although the scene where she loses control was a tad on the comical side rather than frightening.

The actors shine anyway.
