Horror Book of the Week: I FOUND PUPPETS LIVING IN MY APARTMENT WALLS By Ben Farthing

This week’s Horror Book Recommendation is I FOUND PUPPETS LIVING IN MY APARTMENT WALLS By Ben Farthing.

The book has been much talked about online and for a reason. This clever horror story has managed to creep out several readers using a new sub-genre in horror: puppets.

Puppets used to be something we were enthralled with as kids. Many of us were even educated by watching puppets in TV shows and even learned manners from them.

Who knew puppets could also be terrifying?

I FOUND PUPPETS LIVING IN MY APARTMENT WALLS was published in August 2023 and is on the bestsellers list in Horror Short Stories and Horror Suspense.

The book has garnered good reviews from critics who have described the book as chock full of horrors and unsettling.

Customers who bought this book appreciated the author’s technique in introducing a creepy scene right in the beginning. They also lauded the writing style and found the story original, unsettling, and quick-horrorjumps right into the horror scene and grips

Quick Book Review based on the sample

Johnny and Brittany have finally made peace with their grandpa’s disappearance. Their grandpa used to voice a puppet called Swoomie in the show called R-City Street.

Johnny wakes up in the middle of the night to see a puppet near his bed. Spooked by the puppet’s appearance, and the fact that it moved and touched him, he begins to wonder about what really happened to his grandfather.

The book does jump right into the horror scene and it does grip you in its terrifying claws. The author appears to have written the story in the style of Goosebumps ( a series for kids written by R.L. Stine) based on the short chapters and the technique of jumping right into the action.

You will definitely want to read further and put this creepy and unsettling novella on your Wishlist.

The Plot (Taken from Amazon.com)

Johnny awakes. A puppet looms over his bed.

He recognizes the furry monster: Grandpa was its puppeteer on the children’s television show R-City Street. But Grandpa went missing a year ago. He disappeared from this very apartment building, which was converted from the old R-City Street studio.

Desperate to see Grandpa again, Johnny follows the puppet inside the building’s walls, ever deeper into a puppet-infested labyrinth...

I Found Puppets Living In My Apartment Walls is a horror tale from the “darkly inventive” purveyor of uncanny places and wondrous evils, Ben Farthing.

I FOUND PUPPETS LIVING IN MY APARTMENT WALLS is part of the I FOUND HORROR series by Ben Farthing.

The novella is currently available on Kindle and Audiobook.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
