Horror News of the Week: The Strangers Trilogy coming in 2024

You might not want to answer your door the next time you hear a knock.

In 2024, prepare for a trilogy of THE STRANGERS directed by Renny Harlin and produced by Courtney Solomon.

THE STRANGERS first released in 2008 and starred Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman who played a couple going through a rough patch. They stay the night at a summer home when someone knocks on the door asking for Tamara. Things soon take an ugly turn when the couple find themselves tied up and at the mercy of the Man in the Mask, Pin-Up Girl, and Dollface.

The couple is ruthlessly stabbed at the end but the final scene shows that Liv Tyler’s character does survive.

The movie was a sleeper hit and a sequel was announced which saw several delays and changes. Eventually, in 2018, the sequel THE STRANGERS: PREY AT NIGHT was released. The movie saw the return of the villains from the previous movies albeit played by different actors. Liv Tyler’s character who was supposed to make a cameo was written off in the final script.

The movie was about a four-year-old family stalked in a trailer park. The parents are mercilessly killed with only the son and daughter surviving.

The Strangers is considered a cult movie and it is no surprise that the movies are seeing a remake.

The trilogy has been shot simultaneously and production wrapped up in November 2022.

The first movie in the trilogy will follow the story of a young woman who goes on a road trip with her boyfriend only for her car to break down on the way. The couple end up at an Airbnb where one night they hear a knock on the door.

The second film may follow the story of the survivor from the first movie.

Will the trilogy end with the villains finally being killed?

The last time a trilogy was released in the same year was the Fear Street series.

The first look of the trilogy will be released on October 12th.

The Strangers and The Strangers: Prey at Night is available for rent or purchase on Amazon Prime Video
