Horror Weekly News: Netflix teases new thriller BODIES. Is Chucky running for President?
A mystery that spans over four different time periods? What is the connection?
Netflix’s newest thriller has sparked interest with the release of the teaser for BODIES.
Based on the DC Comics and graphic novel of the same name, this British crime thriller will consist of eight episodes. The story is about four detectives in different time periods in London who try to uncover a conspiracy that spans over 150 years.
The mystery involves a body that each of the detectives find in their time period. The shocking element that ties it all together is that it is the very same body that each detective finds in their era.
The teaser shows the introduction of the four detectives.
The first is DI Hillinghead in 1890 who finds the naked body of a man in the streets of London.
The next is DS Whiteman in 1941 who finds the body on a dark, rainy night.
In 2023, DS Hasan finds the very same body in a dirty, graffiti-ridden alleyway.
The year is now 2053 and DS Maplewood is tasked with investigating the very same case of the very same body.
How is it that the same body appears in each of these timelines?
There is a man shown in the trailer who appears to know everything and he assures DS Maplewood that he will reveal anything.
Considering the series is based on the graphic novels, the body acts as a reminder to some of the dark secrets that each of the detectives possesses.
While the detectives may believe they are on a righteous part, their deep and dark secrets will come to light because of the body that they investigate during their time periods.
The series stars Jacob Fortune-Lloyd as DS Whiteman. Shira Haas stars as DC Maplewood. Amaka Okafor stars as DS Hasan. Kyle Soller stars as DI Hillinghead.
BODIES will stream on Netflix from 19th October.
In other news…
Chucky is back and he is running for your lives. This is what the tagline suggests anyway.
Chucky was renewed for season 3 in January and will see its release on the SYFY channel on October 4th.
In the official teaser, we now see Chucky in the White House. But just how did he get there?
Devon Sawa, who so far played Logan and Lucas Wheeler in Season One, then Father Bryce in Season 2, previously stated that he will not be part of the series.
However, the teaser shows him playing none other than the President of the United States. And sitting at his breakfast table is his son and…Chucky!
The ambitious serial killer doll apparently seems eager to join politics and create bloodshed and chaos within the walls of the White House.
The first thing that goes missing is the letter opener and in the teaser itself, we see Chucky make his first kill. With the letter opener.
The teaser doesn’t show the trio of friends so it remains to be seen how Jake, Devon and Lexy will take down Chucky considering he will be in the Oval Office.
Jennifer Tilly is also set to reprise her character as Tiffany Valentine and will have to deal with Nica, played by Fiona Dourif who is on a warpath after being subjected to amputation and possession by the former.
The spooky season will officially be in full swing with the return of Chucky.
