Horror Weekly News: Cinderella's Curse paints the town red. Sydney Sweeney plays nun in Immaculate.

She’s going to paint the town red tonight.

Horror fans will recognize this expression as something that has little to do with having a fun evening and more to do with blood and gore.

And they will be right.

After most of the fairytales we read as kids was given the twisted treatment, it is now Cinderella’s turn.

Cinderella’s story was more about not giving up hope and believing in your dreams, and knowing that there is a happy ending for you. But that was just the Disney version.

In the actual story, Cinderella does go to the ball and loses her shoe, and the prince does go around the whole kingdom looking for her, but then things take a bit of a twist.

The evil step-sisters want the prince to pick them and they are desperate enough to saw off their toes so that their feet can stick into the shoes. But the blood is a dead giveaway and the prince soon enough realizes that Cinderella is the one for him.

The step-sisters decide to flatter Cinderella and are invited to the wedding but then their eyes are pecked out by birds.

And so, taking inspiration from the story written by Brothers Grimm, there is a new Cinderella story coming our way but this time it is for all the Horror fans out there.

If you enjoyed Carrie, you may just find some similarities in the recently dropped trailer for the film.

Titled CINDERELLA’S CURSE, the movie shows a young woman called Cinderella being harassed by her sisters.

She thinks that by going to the ball and meeting the Prince, that she will have her happily ever after, but unfortunately, in this version, the Prince is not so nice.

Cinderella is humiliated at the ball, laughed at and pushed around until she finally snaps. The scene is intercut with a blood-stained being that grants Cinderella three wishes. So yes, there’s a bit of Aladdin in there too.

Cinderella’s first wish? She wants revenge.

And so in true Carrie-style, she exacts revenge on everyone who humiliated her at the ball. Even the Prince is seen running for his life. And then we get to see Cinderella cutting off her stepsister’s toes so that the glass shoe can fit. As gruesome as the scene is, it is also staying true to the real story of Cinderella.

Of course, there is a carriage that explodes and Cinderalla walking around stealthily using her glass slipper as a weapon, but the trailer shows just how entertaining this horror movie is going to be.

Directed by Louisa Warren, and written by Harry Boxley and Charles Perrault, the movie stars Kelly Rian Sanson, Sam Barrett, and Lauren Budd.

CINDERELLA’S CURSE has a tentative release date of April 4th.

We are here for a reason and sometimes that reason could be being troubled by something creepy. Or that is what it seems like in the trailer for IMMACULATE

In the past, there have been plenty of movies that show themes of immaculate conception or nuns harboring dark secrets. Combine these two elements and you have the movie Immaculate.

In the trailer we see a nun making a confession and stating that she has been saved by the Lord but she can’t seem to find the reason why she was. When she doesn’t receive a reply from the other side, she finds that she is being pushed into a distance and someone comes up from behind her and grabs her.

No doubt that is going to be one of the typical jump scare, dream sequence.

We then see the nun joining a convent along with other young women only to one day, throw up. As she is mocked, she is also taken to the clinic where she is told that she is pregnant.

But she’s a nun!

Suddenly the nun becomes the center of attention but for all the wrong reasons. Everyone is wondering whether she is really the chosen one for immaculate conception or is she birthing a demon?

The nun sees some nuns wearing red masks and one of them even jumps through a window. The nun is clearly being targeted and goes through incidents where she is being hurt or drowned.

At one point we even see her bloodied face as she wails.

The movie does not really show a trailer that has anything new to offer.

There appear to be plenty of jump scares and the only selling point seems to be the lead Sydney Sweeney who is also producing this movie.

But trailers can be deceiving and NEON is already backing one of the most creatively marketed movie LONGLEGS so they can’t really go wrong with Immaculate, can they?

The movie is directed by Michael Mohan and written by Andrew Lobel. Along with Sydney Sweeney, the movie also stars Álvaro Morte, and Simona Tabasco.

IMMACULATE will release on March 22nd.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
