Infinity Pool (2023)-- Movie ending spoilers!

Plot: While on vacation, James and Em befriend another couple who introduce them into hedonistic culture.

Infinity Pool is perhaps the most puzzling, disjointed, and depraved movie you will watch this year.

It starts off decent, but towards the middle, it becomes messy and confusing  a complete contrast to the first act.

The only pull to the movie becomes the star cast, who is unfortunately given the colossal task of making the best of this pretentious script.

INFINITY POOL Plot

James and Em are at a resort. After attending a party where some people have donned weird masks, they have breakfast the next day.

Em is clearly not into the vacation and is sulking. James looks bored, too.

At the buffet, a woman approaches James. She introduces herself as Gabi and says she has read his book and is a huge fan. James is surprised because literally no one has read his book. Nevertheless, he is flattered and accepts her invitation to hang out.

Em is cautious about meeting new people, but James assures her that should anything go wrong, at least that would be the most interesting part of their holiday. At this point, he would prefer getting mugged.

Em and James meet Gabi and her husband Alban for dinner. Alban boasts that Gabi is a great fail model, which means she is great at doing things badly.

Gabi gives them a demo, and that amuses James. Em is determined to be sulky.

The couple then invited James and Em to go visit the countryside. At the beach, Alban asks Em why she married James. She tells him that her father hated James, and that is why she married him.

James isn't amused that his wife is pretty much insulting him. He goes off to pee, but Gabi shows up and helps him with another kind of leak. James is shocked, but that doesn't stop him from completion.

Night falls, and the couple are heading back. James is driving and is distracted. He ends up hitting a man who was crossing the road in the dark.

Everyone gets out of the car and freaks out. Em wants to call the police but Gabi tells her that if they get arrested in this country, they will face a worse fate. Everyone gets into the car, and while James and Em are nervous, Gabi assures them they have made the right decision.

The very next morning, James and Em are arrested. James is told they know about the hit and run. The punishment is a family member inflicting pain on the criminal.

That is when James learns that there is an easy way to get out of this mess. All he has to do is clone himself and the clone will be the one who faces punishment.

This option is available only for the wealthy clients.

James goes through the procedures and has psychedelic visions of Gabi prancing about.

When it's time for the execution, James' clone is made to stand all tied up as the victim's son comes to stab him repeatedly. James' clone begs for forgiveness but he gets none.

Em is horrified while James is amused.

As soon as they are let go, Em demands that they leave this instant and can't believe James isn't disgusted by what he witnessed.

James is intrigued and tells her he lost his passport. The argument ends. When they are laying on the bed, Em tells him she really wants to leave. James tells her she can leave without him and he will join her once he finds his passport.

As soon as Em leaves, James is pulled into Gabi's world where there are several rich tourists who commit crime and then clone themselves.

All of them break into a wealthy man's mansion while he is in a compromising position with a woman, and begin shooting while wearing those grotesque masks.

Someone is shot and all of them are charged for the crime.

But fear not, the clones are here to take the fall.

Gabi, James, and their new friends, watch their clones get executed. They laugh and make merry.

Now they can do whatever they want without suffering the consequences.

INFINITY POOL Ending Explained with Spoilers

Back from his little adventure, James finds Em at the hotel, disgusted by his new hobby. James doesn't care much for her anymore, not that he seemed to before. Em leaves him and James sees this as permission to have an affair with Gabi and take illegal substances.

James goes out with his new friends again as they break into a facility and start beating up a man. James joins in the fun until he realizes it is his double. The question is, who is the real clone?

James isn't bothered but he is freaked out. He decides he has gotten all the partying and depravity out of his system and wants to return home.

Gabi isn't too happy about it and follows him the next morning as he gets on the bus.

She shoots at him and makes him come down from the bus. He is tied up and made to walk in front of the car.

Gabi then reveals she never read his book and that is the biggest insult James has ever had. Do whatever you want with him but don't insult the book he wrote six years ago, and was never read by anyone!

This insult jolts him into action but he is shot in the leg. James still manages to get away and is cared for by some people in a farm.

Gabi finds James and along with her friends, forces him to kill his clone. James reward for completing the task is Gabi who lets him feed from her.

The next morning, James is a huge mess considering what he has faced and done on his vacation. He realizes he is too broken to be fixed now and decides to stay back.

The movie ends.

Infinity Pool has a unique storyline and a decadent first half. It is when James falls into bad company that the movie, instead of reaching new depths, becomes murky and shallow.

A better second half could have definitely helped shape this movie into something brilliant.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
