Spoonful of Sugar(2022) --Movie ending spoilers

Plot: Millicent takes up a job as a babysitter to a sickly boy. But her intentions may not be so noble after all.

Mary Poppins' spoonful of sugar may make the medicine go down. Millicent's dose of medicine, however, may just make the world around you weird.

Spoonful of Sugar takes you by surprise with its idiocrasy. From the very first scene, you are fixated on Millicent and wondering just what is she up to.

SPOONFUL OF SUGAR Plot

Millicent applies for a job, and meets with Rebecca. The boy she's supposed to take care of is Johnny, who is dressed in a spacesuit.

Rebecca explains how Johnny is allergic to pretty much everything and doesn't talk to anyone.

Rebecca asks Millicent her age and tells her she looks younger. Millicent hesitates but tells her she actually goes to college but is taking a break. Considering she is dressed in an over-size jacket and has pigtails, she does look too young to take on such a big responsibility.

The second Rebecca asks about family, Millicent avoids the question and approaches Johnny.

Johnny warms up to her almost immediately. Rebecca is surprised that she managed to connect with her son instantly so of course she is hired.

She asks about a woman in the drawing Johnny drew but Rebecca quickly tears it out and walks away.

While Rebecca is wandering about, Millicent checks out a shirtless man at the window. She ogles at him and when he comes inside, she leans against the doorway to be creepy even more.

The man is Jacob, Rebecca's husband. He is initially spooked by her but then tells her he knows who she is. Millicent is clearly smitten by him.

Millicent lives with an older man called Roger who isn't too happy with her new job but she ignores him.

She spends time with Johnny, making sure to adhere to rules. The two have fun, and in one instant, even play around with paint.

Occasionally, Millicent is seen attending therapy lessons with Dr Welsh. And we also see Millicent taking LSD with a dropper. That's spoonful of sugar for you.

Millicent watches Rebecca with her family and thinks she can be better. She does think she would have made a better mother when she tells Dr Welsh that the women in the park are barely bothered about their kids and are more interested in gossiping. When she tries to run away with one of the kids, the mother stops her and slaps her.

She tells Dr Welsh that she doesn't necessarily desire to be a mother but does think she can be better at taking care of kids.

When Johnny's parents are away, she puts drops of LSD in his medication. Johnny becomes weird after that and doesn't mind if Millicent removes his helmet.

He has grown attached to her after she taught him how to cut into rabbits.

Meanwhile Jacob and Rebecca are not having a great time at their date. In order to get Jacob to enjoy,  Rebecca proceeds to seduce him in the car. Jacob is so distracted, he almost doesn't see Millicent and Johnny crossing the road.

Millicent has to literally scream Stop before Jacob puts on the brakes.

Rebecca gets out of the car, livid, because Johnny wasn't supposed to leave the house.

Johnny stuns everyone by speaking his first word: MOMMY. Except he isn't referring to Rebecca.

That makes Rebecca's head almost explode. She tells Millicent to stay away but she hasn't understood yet that she is fired. Jacob takes a distraught Millicent home who seduces him and they get intimate.

From then on, whenever Rebecca isn't home, Jacob has his way with Millicent. Johnny watches from his window and draws everything he sees.

Millicent heads to her house, and the older man she lives with, Roger, tells her he doesn't like sharing her with anyone. He did make a huge sacrifice for her by killing off his wife.

Millicent tells him he is allowed to punish her and so he removes his belt. Millicent uses the belt to strangle him.

She has found someone younger now and Johnny has been calling her mother. She has a family now and has no use for Roger now.

Afterwards, she dumps him into the pit, right next to his dead wife.

It is then some twists are revealed.

SPOONFUL OF SUGAR Ending Explained with Spoilers!

Turns out Millicent is a foster kid and a serial killer. She has a diary and everything of all the foster fathers who have forced unwanted attentions on her.

In the diary, she has stated Dr Welsh's name as well. That doesn't bode well for the doctor who had once put his hand on her to sympathise with Millicent.

Now either Millicent was unfortunate to have all perverted foster fathers or one of them must have forced himself on her causing her to believe that every man is after her.

In the meantime, Rebecca notices Johnny's raucous drawings of Jacob with Millicent and loses it.

When Millicent comes to her house after poisoning her therapist, Rebecca tells her to get lost.

Millicent goes to Jacob for sympathy.

Johnny is mad that he didn't get to see Millicent and tries to stab Rebecca but then stops probably because he realizes that she is his mother after all.

Rebecca, enraged, takes the knife for him and goes to find Jacob and Millicent, certain that they influenced Johnny to do away with her.

She finds them in a compromising position but doesn't care enough to let them finish.

Everyone gets into a tussle which ends with Rebecca managing to get the upperhand by stabbing Millicent.

Johnny appears and Millicent tries to appeal to him. Everyone thinks that Johnny is totally going to help her but he deals Millicent a fatal stab.

And that is when another twist is revealed. Millicent isn't the only serial killer in town.

Johnny has been killing his babysitters.

The parents are tasked with burying the bodies that eventually act as good fertiliser for apple trees.

In the end, Rebecca talks to Jacob about purchasing more land because they are running out of space.

The movie ends.

Spoonful of Sugar is twisted and thrilling and the plot twists will keep you hooked. The pacing is slow at times and the whole LSD plot doesn't really fit neatly into the story.

But the climax redeems the movie and it helps that the acting is competent.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
