Weekly Horror News: R.L. Stine's Prom Queen heads to Netflix. Stopmotion has a terrifying new trailer.

It’s time to return to FEAR STREET.

Following the success of the Fear Street trilogy on Netflix, R.L. Stine’s hit book series will once again be brought to life in a new movie.

While the Fear Street trilogy was based on the series and not a specific novel, the fourth Fear Street movie will be an adaptation of R.L. Stine’s 1992 novel THE PROM QUEEN

The Prom Queen was about a killer targeting the five prom queen candidates. Lizzie McVay, one of the candidates, must figure out who is behind the murders before she becomes a victim herself.

Lizzie, along with Simone Perry, Elana Potter, Dawn Rodgers, and Rachel West, are nominated to be prom queen.

As the murders begin to take place, Lizzie must get to the bottom of the mystery to save herself and her friends. But can she find out the identity of the killer in time?

Spoiler Alert!

In the book, the killer turns out to be Simone who is jealous because her boyfriend Justin has been cheating on her with the other girls.

Whether or not the movie will follow the same plot, remains to be seen.

As of yet, cast details and release dates have not been revealed. The fourth Feart Street movie, THE PROM QUEEN will be releasing on Netflix.

Imagine having your creation coming to life. But it’s not anything like happy-go-lucky Pinocchio but something terrifying, like the stuff made out of nightmares.

A live-action/adult animated movie titled STOPMOTION is set to release soon and going by the trailer, the movie will give you nightmares.

The movie is about a stop-motion animator Ella Blake, who works with her overbearing mother. When her mother falls sick, it is up to Ella to complete the project.

She moves into a new apartment where she befriends a girl who tells her the story of Ashman. Ella is so intrigued by the little horror tale, that she decides to base her project on that.

But her little project takes a life of its own and Ella has to deal with a terrifying situation.

The trailer shows the little puppet come to life and it is grotesque and scary.

The movie was screened at Fantastic Fest, and the BFI London Film Festival in 2023 where it received rave reviews from critics. The film currently holds a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Critics have praised the movie for having effective animation, a chilling tale, and intelligent in execution.

The movie is directed by Robert Morgan who is also the writer along with Robin King.

The movie stars Aisling Franciosi, Stella Gonet, Tom York, and Caoilinn Springall.

STOPMOTION releases on February 23rd and will stream on Shudder  on May 31st.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
